The joint damage that led to the surgery did slow him up that much. He still cares as much as any player in baseball. How much of an impression of him could you get in 8 games, 3 started when he was with the Yankees in 1998?

With the big Yankees/Red Sox game last night this little news headline got burried.

Oakland Athletics released 1B Jason Giambi.

Heard about that. Heard Alex Rios got picked up on waivers too, though I don't who claimed him or if it went through.

And Ortiz is pulling a Clemens and denying steroid use. Cause the tests lie :r

This one doesn't make any sense to me. Rios is a young stud who just signed a multi-year deal. And they put him on waivers??? Why???

My guess is that they don't want to pay that 65 million dollar contract.

Kinda early to say this, but this August is starting to remind me of the Augusts of my youth; Red Sox pack it in and the Yankees pull away.

Another good game and big win for the Yankees.

Yankees are playing really good ball...and some great pitching the past few games. If they keep this pace up (much as I hate to say it), they are gonna be tough to beat. As for my Mets...there's always next year!!!

Re: *2009 MLB Thread*

I am glad that they are getting some wins against the Red Sox right now. It takes the Sox down a few pegs from their recent domination over the Yankees.

Re: *2009 MLB Thread*

I wouldn't mind seeing the Red Sox NOT score today until the 3rd inning.

That way it will be 20 consecutive scoreless innings.;s
