Just finished another hour plus with NFL Training Camp.:tu

Dom, Wii Fit strength training and yoga are the most beneficial. Only bad thing is they're kinda boring. Don't spend an hour on hula hoop hoping to get any success.:D

I also put in a mile on the 12 speed just now, but that's only five minutes of exercise. My thighs are sore though.

So..been on the HCG diet for a week now and I'm down 17 lbs. I know it sounds like a huge number for one week but remember I'm a huge guy, lol. 422 and now 405. Now I have to start getting my ass outside after dinner for at least a walk. In a month or two I should be in better shape to start the gym again.

That's great! Congratulations!

I did a weigh-in today and am down to a solid 247 from 250 a couple weeks ago and 269 when I started.

Best of luck to everyone and remember WATER!

Nicely done Mike and Travis!

I'm quickly learning that water is the name of the game.
Scott, I tried no coffee one day last week and had a monster headache all day.
Today I brought half of what I normally bring and twice the water.
I also for the first time packed my whole days worth of food with me.
The real challenge will be not to eat it all by 3PM!

Dom, sounds like you are on the right path. Keep it up!:tu

I'm ready to get home today so I can get in another workout.:tu

Started back eating fruit for breakfast and lunch today. That fried chicken patty or sausage and egg is too much in the mornings. Fruit is 0 points on my WW plan.

Well done, brother!!! :tu
Little steps, my man. If it takes time to change stuff you're doing so that you can begin to lose weight, that's all part of the game. The little changes mean a lot.
I never thought about the no coffee headache. I can remember my ex drank so much iced tea that she'd get a headache without it. I suppose you have to taper off a bit. Half the coffee is great. Maybe in a week or two you can cut it in half again?
I drink Maxwell House Lite. It's got half the caffiene. I brew it weak and use lots of milk and water in it. It really isn't coffee at all when I'm done with it, but it's no good for me anyways, so I'm okay with it.
I'm just happy that you're well on your way and you're not giving up.
Don't forget that changes sometimes come with negative consequences, so don't be so concerned with the weight loss just yet. Be concerned with getting ready for it. You're doing great with that part so far, and this thing takes lots of time. Lots and lots of time. :D

Re: Losing Weight with Starscream

Well, I finally decided it's time to get off of my duff and start shedding the pounds. I'm not happy that I gained back all of the weight I lost since I got down to 170 in 2007. I want my energy back. I miss the feeling of running whenever I wanted, never having heartburn, and my knees not hurting. So, this time I'm giving myself an incentive that I think will do the trick. I've decided to not allow myself to smoke another cigar until I lose 25 lbs. Then I can smoke one, but after it's done it'll be back on the wagon for another 25 lbs. I'm going to do that hopefully 4 times and then I'll be around 175 (currently I'm just under 276).

Today I smoked the last stick that was in my humi, an El Baton 6x60. It was damn good, too. :dr That will probably be the one I choose 25 pounds from now.

I'm doing my best to avoid soda of any kind too. I went 30 days without any, then this past week I had a few but nowhere near the level I was drinking them before.

So, here goes. Good luck to all who are already on this road, and I hope to catch up at some point.:tu

Welcome aboard. May I suggest that when you lose your first 25 that you smoke for at least a week? Cigars are too good to only smoke ONE every 25 lbs lost. That's gonna be a long wait between cigars after the first 25.

Ha, I couldn't do that now! I'm such a lightweight (so to speak) compared to some of the other guys on this board. If I smoked a cigar every day for a week, there'd be vomiting the likes of which you've NEVER SEEN! :pu

Hola from sunny Buenos Aires. I"m certainly in a quandry down here as far as eating. Steak, pizza, pasta, sweets. That's about it and all bad for a diabetic. At least the plant cafeteria has salads along with the main courses. Eating a lot of those.

Welcome on board, Bob!!! :tu
Looking forward to seeing how you get it done.

Tough break on being stuck in Paradise with awesome food you can't eat, Pierogi King. :r
I started losing weight when Lisa and I went on our honeymoon in Punta Cana. The food was ever-present and awesome. The restaurants were all amazing, but with multiple course fancy food the portions were small.
That really helped me. It really drove home the fact that food is around all the time and I don't have to eat like it's my last meal every time I sit down.
I lost weight on my vacation, changed my "how much I eat" habits, and haven't changed back. I swear, everything I do is bass-ackwards. :D

Ha! Someone finally noticed that. Figured it was appropriate a couple years ago when we'd make 25-30 dozen pierogi during the holidays. Most would be given away.

I haven't had one in probably 6 months.

I couldn't find the pierogis, so I went with pigs-in-the-blanket (or galumpki for real polanders). Then as soon as I dug them out, I found the pierogis.
So pigs it is. I won't be having much because it's way more potassium than I'm allowed, but it'll be a nice change of pace. :tu

Found a great Italian place last night not that far from the hotel. Not that much of a Italian meal, more Spanish to be precise, but very good. Appetizer platter of serrano ham, machego cheese, roasted red peppers with oil/garlic, some grilled chorizo sausage and a mixed salad. Yea, lots of fat, but not that many carbs. :tu

Re: Losing Weight with Starscream

Sounds great Bob! :dr

Welcome Laura!

I came home last night starving!
I walked through the door and headed straight to the kitchen and was searching wildly for anything to stuff in my face.
My wife came over, told me to jump in the shower, and she would whip something up for me.
She Lied!
I got out, and she said, I didn't need to eat and I should just go to bed. I listened.
I woke up this morning still hungry.
I stopped at a 7-11 and grabbed a banana.
I shoved the banana down my throat with all the grace of a B Actress looking for her big break.
In the end, I feel like a huge fatso for not being able to control my appetite,
but I'm happy I grabbed the banana instead of the sausage egg and cheese I wanted.

Starscream 05-18-2011 06:41 AM

Re: Losing Weight with Starscream

You can eat a lot of bananas and still be good, Dom. Don't feel guilty about eating fruit.

242 again today:td. At least it's not a gain, and I believe at least a pound of that today is from all the beans in my stomach from last night's taco soup. Does gas carry weight?:r

fruit is pure sugar, better off eating bacon or chicken - this is my belief after doing a lot of research, and reading, and i believe that the common theory of low fat is complete b.s.

seriously - read this http://www.amazon.com/Why-We-Get-Fat.../dp/0307272702 great book

also i got annoyed and pigged out tonight, small pizza withotu the crust, yep just ate cheese and toppings, hot wings non breaded and dry cracked ribs no breading HIGH as hell in fat and protein, i needed a meal of epic proportions tho, no guilt :)

Lots and lots of people have died from all protein diets, Myles. Be sure to look at that side. I'm not trying to dissuade you from your diet choice at all, just make sure to get all the angles and be careful. I don't want to see you get sick, that'd be awful. I just happened to run into some info about death rates of folks on no-carb diets in a book that's in our downstairs bathroom yesterday.
I agree completely that the low fat mania is BS, too.
We're omnivores. We need lots of things to keep us healthy.

I'm in the odd position where my neurological disorder is intolerant of potassium. All meat is full of potassium, and I have to avoid it. I'm on a high-carb low-potassium diet. Despite that, I still eat some meat even though it
causes me very considerable pain. I'm not gonna get sick over a diet that's just not right for my body at any cost. Just doesn't make sense.
