Re: Photography Thread
Thanks guys! I'll get some more up soon. Havent been out shooting recently. Too damn hot!
|
Re: Photography Thread
You are right it's hot. I combine shooting trips with my evening walks which really has an effect on the light,
granted it's better than midday, but wouldn't it be nice if I could shoot at 7am or so? It is still plenty hot in the evenings here, but if I have to go and walk anyway, I now just take the camera. Of course it is all new to me again, haven't shot film since 1980-82, and have really kept the P&S at home unless I was on vacation or shooting boudoir. So it's like a newlywed for me lately, taking it out everytime I go outside. Better light shot of the church, and a preset White Balance, too. http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...G/IMG_8023.jpg Funky Gum tree branches...two trees are relatively normal, but the one in the middle... http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a..._8017small.jpg |

I know of one on Union (Madison Tobacco) and if there is one on Poplar, you might mean Tobacco World that's got pipes, pens and cigars....kind of across the tracks from The Belmont Restaurant out on the east side of town.

Re: Photography Thread
Out again this weekend with the camera. These will be the first adulterated photos I have posted,
a little Photoshop messing around. Trying to find the perfect series of tinkering maneuvers to create a Pseudo-HDR look with Photoshop 6. Some success and some failure, lol. http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...hdrsmall-1.jpg http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...44hdrsmall.jpg http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...6hdrcopy-1.jpg |

And one that isn't messed with, outside of Brightness and Contrast.

Haha, I looked at that MPD and MFD shot and realized you can see the bird $hi+ on the car window, lol.
Took that at a stoplight and must have decided rolling down the window was gonna take too long. |

Last night I happened to have my camera with me because I was shooting pics for a Hoyo review when I drove by the WWI memorial here in KC and snapped this real quick. |
Re: Photography Thread

Nice looking photo's Brad:tu

Re: Photography Thread
Worth the wait.....Should have manually focused the late sunset. The camera struggles a
bit under low light conditions to focus. But I am supposed to be the master of it, not the other way around, lol. Second shot was one of the first I whot whil waiting hours for the sunset, haha. Kinda "day for night". In the right corner, the "Memphis Queen"...Twain rolls over in his grave over this boat. http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...nsetonMiss.jpg http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a...ayfornight.jpg |

I promise to stop with the bridges and sunsets after today.

Re: Photography Thread
This stems from a friend of mine, used to work together in TV production and we are still both in town, both having
moved on from TV stations proper. This is his photostream, and it is excellent. http://www.flickr.com/photos/3096310...th/5360680841/ Now while I am not trying to copy his work per se, this photo and the post-processing is an homage to his work. If you look at all his photos, a photo very much like this is in there, his is better than mine, but I was only trying to duplicate the STYLE of his 3 bridges photo. Here is HIS photo by the way..... http://www.flickr.com/photos/3096310...n/photostream/ He and I both have the career-type knowledge of photoshop, but he has always been better at actual graphic design than me. So I look at his work and try to apply what I like to my own work. Most of what I have posted in this thread is getting used to the camera and it's strengths and weaknesses. What I post from here on out will be more artistic than straight photos, mostly because my super-zoom does not have the dynamic range or image quality of a good DSLR. All that drivel said, thanks spectrr, can't believe you're missing the shack. |

Brad, is that a 5 1/4 or a 8 inch floppy?
BTW, I love it. Especially "Backup" being written on it. |

Re: Photography Thread
Wow, another two bite the dust. Congratulations on a relatively stress-free gig. My mother used to say,
"You should really be doing wedding videos". I told her it's all fun and games til you miss the garter toss, or the smushed cake or whatever it ends up being. No thanks, lol. |

Re: Photography Thread
It's funny, I used to go out walking every night or at least every other night, but til I got a nicer camera,
I never thought, "Hey, take your camera out with you". Well tonight I was out hoping to see the ducks that hang out in this creek. Tonight they were there, and so I took the settings to continuous shooting, and shot the ducks. As the lens sags and rises, the shots are all over the place, especially on the slow shutter speed I had to use near dusk. So sometimes the ducks were not even in the shot. So I was deleting the crap and something caught my eye. Good thing I had the polarizer on so I could see through the water easily. Right as I am hitting "delete", I see a pattern.....can YOU? The duck must have because those shots are consecutive at about a half second a pop. It only took the duck a half a second to leave the frame. http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a.../IMG_1509x.jpg http://i954.photobucket.com/albums/a.../IMG_1510x.jpg That's a Brown banded Water Snake.................. |

That snake is comming up in stealth mode ready to strike. Video of that would be sweet. Nature at work kill or be killed that is the cycle of life in the wild...

Re: Photography Thread
Those are non-venomous -- Brad may know different, but a duck is WAY too big a meal for that snake.
Very cool shot though |

than to kill that snake deader than dead. One that size, might end up in a draw, but I still give the edge to the duck. |
