I am not so sure Berschmoozi will get suspended, and I won't be angry if he is not. Dumb decision to turn and make the hit skating backward, but I don't think he meant to drill Johnson's head the way he did. I guess we have to leave it to the "experts".

It was a fun game to watch even if the Wing's lost. We did get a point at least.

On the possibility of a suspension...

DETROIT -- Todd Bertuzzi will not be suspended for his hit to the head against Chicago's Ryan Johnson on Monday, the Detroit Red Wings confirmed today.

Bertuzzi received a five-minute penalty for elbowing and was ejected from the game at 5:17 of the first period.

"I don’t think it was anything malicious,'' Johnson said. "He was very apologetic, came walking right in here and said ‘Sorry’ as soon as it happened.''
I know Bert doesn't have a great reputation. All I can say is since he's been in Detroit, I haven't seen him do anything to intentionally hurt someone; aka no cheapshots. I'm not saying 100% for certain, but in the many games I've seen, he's been a model citizen.

If it came off like I was saying they shouldn't have called it, I wasn't saying that. I was saying if he should have taken the penalty. I suppose it was the "smart" play to prevent the 2 on 1.

I'm glad Bert's not getting a suspension. Definitely not a smart a play.

You would hope so, he had a lot to live down. He gained some measure of respect in my eyes post-game last night.

Hoping the Hawks catch the Bruins a bit contented after the B's clinched a playoff spot last game, but they are a good team and matching the defending champs. I think if the Hawks can survive the 2st period down 1 goal or less, they will have a good shot at 2 points.

Is the the score ESPN is showing for the Detroit - St. Louis game for real? 3-10? Sharks can smell that blood in the water. Time to move into second in the west.

and add what is a goalie? Joey Mac got killed then Babcock didn't do Todd Macallum any favors by throwing him in there. I believe it was his first NHL game.

Sharks can move to 2nd place with a win tonight against Dallas :td

You can't have A without B. You need A bad or that position gets really lean. I will let the boys know you are cheering for them to beat the Stars and take control of second. Given the last game this will be a nasty nasty game. They always are, but given Dallas position / desperation I don't know if they will pull this one out. I hope they do.

Re: NHL '10 - '11 Thread

ESPN.com reference Hawks-Bruins incident.

Quote:

Thornton was angry at someone on the Hawks bench during Tuesday's 3-0 win over Chicago after he was cut in the forehead by a skate. As he left the ice, bleeding, he heard some comments from the Hawks' bench which got him fired up. He made a move toward the bench but was restrained.

"Something was said," Thornton said after the game. "Obviously I can't swear when I talk to [the media]. There was some stuff said that I'm not happy about. I'm going to find out who it was and I will deal with it in my own way."

The Hawks weren't forthcoming Thursday with the exact comments that angered Thornton, but they brushed off his criticism.

"Someone said something to him," said Bryan Bickell, who works out with Thornton in the offseason. "Hopefully he's all right. I guess there were some words. I didn't hear it or who did it. It's all in good fun. There are times it gets heated, but I don't think our team is any different from any other team."

Hawks' enforcer John Scott called Thornton a stand-up guy until Scott was informed Thornton said "those guys on their team chirp a lot."

"He said that?" Scott exclaimed. "That's fine. He can say what he wants.

"He's going after some of our littlest guys on our team. He's trying to challenge [Fernando] Pisani to a fight. What's that say about him? Mr. Tough Guy, trying to challenge Pisani. If I'm in the lineup he's more than welcome to come and chirp me. I'll kick the [expletive] out of him."
I love hockey. :D

Thornton is still pissed says the player has no sack, and he will take care of matters when he gets a chance.
Thornton is not a goon he can play and will mix it up with anyone.
Thornton will beat Scott like a red headed step child.

Thornton can take care of himself fine, I admit.

Word is that it was Patrick Kane he was angry with, hopefully he will give the little imp a break.

Beat Scott like a RHSC? Let's just say Mr. Thornton is lucky Mr. Scott won't have a chance to take him up on that this season. ;) :r

Must of went to the Chris Pronger school of insults. Sounds very similar to the infamous "where is that, in the minors" comment about Burish. I do think comebacks of that type should be reserved for future hall of famers, but it was a good one.

I guess he will have to see Scott in the minors? One point in 40 games, the Blackhawks didn't even dress him for the game.Easy not to know who the guys is.

My point was in both situations the message being conveyed by the person making the statement is that the player being referenced is not on their level and doesn't belong on the ice with them.

Queue the Jaws theme.

Okay so my season is officially over now that the Isles beat the hell out of the Ragskirts the other night. bt are eliminated from play-ff yet again

How he hell does Gborik NOT get a game misconduct fr that hit on Frnz? Oh thts right he is a Rag and he boarded and concussed an Islander so it's okay. Colin Campbell is a C****; BTW there is a lot of negative hiistory betweeen him and the Isles Organization well before he got this positon.

Nice to see that pu$$ie Avery get hs a$$ hnded to him. Typical punk avery. goes after a young 5-7 170 lbs guy but Haley says no you don't...then he tries to turtle. what a b!tch.

We got a real good core of young players some minor tweaks and a for real goalie and next season other teams better not underestimate us. As a Hockey fan I will still bewatching the play-offs of course.

how muc itmake me want to vomit I stick my my pre-season pick of the Flyers hoisting Lord Stanley this year.

I couldn't agree more with ALL the above sentiments. I watched the NY/NY game and a game misconduct should have been given. I also very much enjoyed Avery getting bloodied up. :tu
