Crushing, like men against boys. Speed difference is noticeable. Look forward to see New Years Eve day game, USA vs Canada....

Canada doesn't even look worried, though they jumped early, they pinch like they're not even worried about getting caught. Game isn't as close as the 7-0....

Heard earlier that McDavid and Eichel have never even met each other, I think that's crazy? How does that happen?

^^^ meaning they indicated they've never talked, chatted before a game? Seems almost unbelievable? How don't the best 2 North American '96 & '97 ever roll on the ice together?

Add: they're about 2.5 months age difference. Oct/Jan

McDavid plays juniors in Canada, and Eichel plays at Boston College. Not that strange considering that, E.J.

Slovakia. 8-0 final, 12 shots on goal for the the Slovaks. Domi's kid looked great, and McDavid showed some moves even though he didn't finish.

.

Both have played Internationally many times, same tournaments.

Absolutely, E.J., but I don't think there is much interaction between different teams and players except during game play at that level.

Weirdest goal this season.
Still 2 valuable points.
Wild in town for a rematch tomorrow ....

Stayed right there for a bit, but in the end, Chicago just is better. They are a talented and fun team to watch. That 2nd goal, Keith to Kane was a beauty & bad luck all the same. Never got any better.

I just got GCL and was watching Isles at Peg. I wanted to watch this too. I will look for a replay as I do not know who won.

BTW, My Isles are looking pretty good this year if we could just shore up the Back-up goaltending and special teams we could be so, so dangerous

Agreed & agreed. I didn't watch the game, just updated on twitter feed, but wins are better than losses!

My good friend will be leading out the flag at the start of the Winter Classic today. Very cool experience for him. Can't wait until he gets home and I can pick his brain about the entire experience, start to finish....as he's only halfway as I type and not the best part. The texts/video I've received have made me very jealous.

Tough call late to put the Hawks short. I may have been biased, but I don't think you make that.

That said, awesome game and Kane almost railed it with :01...gamer! Fun, but they have to figure out this video feed for the Winter Classic. It's almost a disservice for the NHL.

Hockey doesn't translate well on TV anyway, but the feed is terrible. Any non hockey fan, just dumping into the game as a NYD game, "I'm going to watch hockey" gets a terrible offering. As a HUGE FAN, I can't follow it great. It's terrible. Meh...?

icehog3 01-02-2015 08:32 AM

Re: NHL '14 - '15 Season Thread

Agree with yoiu about the feed, E.J., I'll watch 75+ Hawks regular season games on TV, and that will easily be the worst to watch.

Lots of people saying Denver would be a great locale, Don. I'd have to agree. Just watch out for that smoke cloud outside the stadium. :)

Leafs took a solid beating from the Jets. Big Buff was on serious form - seemed he had a magnetic stick and metal puck. Chiarot also hit a monster from the blue line that went bar and in. Pretty goal - nice for an AHL fill in!

Re: NHL '14 - '15 Season Thread

Hawks came back from 4 1-goal deficits to beat Dallas 5-4 in OT. The battle between them, the Preds and the Blues in the Central has been epic, and I am betting it continues to be all the way until the Hawks beat them both in April.

Hopefully the cloud won't look like the 420 rally last year :r

If a game is played here, knowing how wacky the weather is, the temp. will probably be 70 or so .

No comment required. Perrault scored 4! Never seen anything like it in the NHL.

Loving David Pastrnak the Bruins' 18yr old prospect. The other night 2 shots on goal and 2 goals, tonight 2 more goals. Looks like the question of is he ready to play in the NHL is getting answered. He's still a little small but so are a lot of players, grabbed him in the fantasy league, hope he sticks with the team. Too bad he's not enough to overcome Rask's magnitude of suck.

icehog3 01-13-2015 10:20 PM

Re: NHL '14 - '15 Season Thread

Bruins need to decide if they will burn a year of Pastrnak's entry-level deal. I heard they are on the fence.

I do have Perrault in both my fantasy leagues....good night for me...oh, yeah, and him too. :)

33 players have scored 5 or more goals in a game in the NHL since 1974, Neil. Including 4 times each for Gretzky and Lemeiux. Perrault is off to a good start though. :)

Safeway supermarket offers a million dollar prize if a jets player scores 5 or more goals. The must have got worried when he had his fourth going into the third period!

What the hell is going on???? Nashville leading the West; the Islanders leading the East. it's mass hysteria cats and dogs living together in harmony I'll tell ya'

Seriously, I have been saying the Isles were gouing to be pretty good this year then they signed Leddy and Johnny Rocket as well as Halak, Kulemin, and Grabbo.

First line can't find the right chemistry on LW1 but the depth.

even with the additions we are doing better than I anticipated. I just want a playoff series victory but wouldn't be surprised by a deep playoff run.

What a beautiful Tilt against the Rangers at MSG. Ran Lundqvist again.

Have been a big Ryan O'Reilly fan and said here that I want him with the Avs, but seems invisible sometimes.... Like he's floating. Never questioned his talent & don't even know if I want to question his head...but?

Maybe I'm overthinking. His numbers aren't terrible, but I'm just not feeling the old Factor. Not sure what that's about. Know there has a ways been friction between him & management, is it flowing????

Again, maybe overthinking this....
