Didn't hear the comments. I was surprised he got the start, but didn't assume he'd sit another start.

11-1....wow....unbelievable...

He should be frustrated....embarrassed? Allowed 4 goals on 15 shots, which isn't much worse than his early season average of .846...not even cracking the top 38 in the league...

Emery got the third star how embarrassing is that?
I heard there was no rule in place to suspend him..just watch Shanahan makes one up as he goes along.

Really wish the nhl would have the stones to say when a ref blows a call. We have had no call on hits that were later ruled suspensions. Majors assessed on clean hits and gems like the waved off goal in last nights sharks sabers game. Intent to blow whistle my as $

Toronto blew that, Mike, not the refs. :2

Re: NHL '13-'14 Season Thread

I still put blame on the ref for not taking the time to review the play. In a situation like that with a scramble and player alleging it went in why not take a look.

Just wstching NHL tonight bad look with the fan ripping the helmet of Pardys head and the lady pouring her wine on him. Dude looked lit, but thats worthy of a fan ban.

Re: NHL '13-'14 Season Thread

Now that was the Avs I was expecting.... Porous defense, looking lost often, bursts of "wow" but a lot of..."what?" I missed the last 30 minutes(had a hockey game to go watch), but it looks like it mirrored the first 30....

That okay.....what a great start! GO AVS!

Erik Johnson was assessed a 10-minute misconduct at the end of the second period for handing his broken stick to a fan in the stands....really...:td

icehog3 11-07-2013 08:33 AM

Re: NHL '13-'14 Season Thread

Mike, I watched the game and didn't see any Sharks protesting...maybe I missed that?

The helmet rip was crazy, back in the 80's the Jets would have gone into the stands and beat that guy to a pulp.

Oilers signed goaltender Ilya "Universe" Bryzgalov to a 1 year deal.

Yeah, that's the answer. :lr

Oilers shut out for their 3rd consecutive home game, first time in franchise history, Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, Eberle, Gagner, Yakupov, and they can't score in 3 games. Derrek must be pulling his hair out. :hn

After watching Backstrom, Granlund and Pominville take shots to the head from numerous Leafs, they are now up in my top two dirtiest teams in the league. Thank god we beat them tonight or I would have been really pissed.

Hawks win another shootout, and (re)pick up Kris Versteeg. Hoping coming back to Chicago will bring him back to his 2010 form.

Hawks put Handzus on long term IR and sent Morin back to the Icehogs, looks like Kris will be in the line-up tomorrow. :)

Headed down to the United Center for the Hawsk-Sharks game tomorrow, wanted to go to this one as both teams have looked great early. Hopefully the Hawks rebound from their worst game of the season today in Bumpkintwon.

Avs lost their third in a row, I have a feeling this is going to be a roller coaster ride this season

Re: NHL '13-'14 Season Thread

Had a great time at the Hawks game. I've watched most of the Sharks games this season, so I know how dangerous they are, but tonight was the Hawks' night.

Actually though Couture was going to have a monster night after his first couple shifts, but hardly noticed him after that. Got to see the speed of Hertl and Wingels in person, but they didn't dent the scoresheet either.

Big win again for Avs tonight... Took OT after giving up lead in 3rd, then tying up after going down... Long and short, win better than loss...

4 points for Captain Serious, Hawks back in the win column.

Looks like Avs are skating 4 on 5 all the 1st... Not often I've just watched the look out skated, but the Kings are flying around.

Totally flipped 2nd? Avs need to get on the board! Have to kill another +/- 3 minutes of PK to start the 3rd!

Unbelievable...big win! Now beat the Blues on Wed!

I will be an Avs fan on Wednesday, hate me some Blues.

2 goals in 9 seconds in the 3rd gave the Hawks a comeback win....Crawford was huge.

A lot of times, when a team is struggling, the team will look to the captain to spark something, sometimes with a fight. For the Flyers the spark may have come not from Giroux, but from Emery's fight that seemed so egregious at the time. Since that fight, the Flyers have gone 7-1-1 to get themselves back to .500.

There's hope in this season yet!

Flyers turnaround has been a good one, Joel, and since they are in the East, they still are in the hunt! :r

P.S.....I am a big fan of Emery, despite the trend to bash him right now.

Hawks down 2-0 halfway through the 3rd, score 2 goals in 56 seconds to tie it....then Kane pots a spin-o-rama, his second goal of the game, with 18 seconds left for the win, to keep the Hawks in 1st place in the NHL for tonight.

Ok I guess I'll chime in and get yelled at. If Subban doesn't make the Canadian olympic team, I'll have to kick Yzerman where it counts :gary

as long as they pick the best of the talent available(subban or not) ... not like world juniors were subban(other subban) was pre selected months ahead of time to be the #1 goalie ... the best goalie in camp was sent back to Edmonton (after a great camp) .

Team Canada .... notice "Team" in the title. Not sure P.K. always gets it just yet. Loads of talent and upside, still a bit of growing up to do perhaps? Sort of like Patrick Kane a few years back.

And Stevie Y. has balls of steel. ;)

Bryz gets a shutout in his first start for the Oilers.....could the playoffs be far behind, Derrek? :)

Re: NHL '13-'14 Season Thread

Blackhawks moved to 5-1 in their 7 game road trip, winning an 11 round shootout against Dallas. Corey and Kari were both stellar in the shootout, Corey was just "one louder....he went to 11".

Early in the season, Hawks would dominate early, then hang on to win. Now it seems to be the reverse. They have won 5 in a row, but have been behind going into the 3rd period in 4 of the 5, finding a way to come back and win in each. Once they start playing 60 minutes consistently, they are gonna be really dangerous.....but I'll settle for 1st in the NHL right now. :)

Hawks finish their annual "Circus" road trip 6-1 with 6 straight wins. They are off to their second best start in team history, bested only by last year's NHL record start.

3 of the top 4 teams in ESPN's power ranking are from the Central. Hawks #1, Blues #3, Avs #4. Best division in hockey. :tu

Sharks are #2, Mike....and they look good with Burns back in the lineup.

The Isle's completely baffle me anymore. I was a fan years ago when Indy had a farm team for them and they actually played hockey and won on a regular basis. But damn I almost think they would do better in a men's figure skating team event now!
