Hard to win a game or even put up a fight when the bats are silent.

I'm hoping they are loud a lot more than silent this season....they will need to be, considering the bulk of Detroit's bullpen is questionable.

What a exciting game for the A's last night.. Up 3-0, then 4-1, then down 4-5, then end up winning 9-4.

Great game. 6 winning streak now! WOO HOO!! :chr

Tigers bats were a bit more alive yesterday, Cabrera and Fielder 2 and 4 in AL RBIs. That keeps up and they should rise to the top of the division quickly.

Braves are 8-1. Justin Upton and Evan Gattis are on FIRE! Long season.

For fun, why not, Garry? NC, CC, what would you like to do?

Re: MLB 2013 Thread

Carlos Quentin knocks Zack Greinke out with a broking collarbone after charging the mound. Says he was throwing at him. Quentin is a huge D-bag and always has been. He stands two inches off of the plate and is always diving into the pitch. Also, it was a 2-1 game and it was a 3-2 count.

I don't even like Greinke but Quentin is a washed up, former steroid tiger that just wanted his name in the news again. Apparently Matt Kemp went after Quentin in the parking lot after the game as well. Mattingly had a great quote saying that Quentin shouldn't play another game until Greinke pitches another game....Too bad that won't be the case.

Tough break for the Dodgers.

How's the weather in MN?
Sports radio is buzzing here about the Mets getting snowed out tonight!

NC, as I own no CC. I know we did this during the playoffs last year and you won.. I want a rematch.:gary

Oh, and about his broken collar bone.. I know they bashed shoulders.. But it didn't look that bad.. Maybe it happened during the dog pile?

No need.

Double Jackson
Single Hunter
Double Cabrera
Home Run Fielder
5 straight outs
Repeat 4 times

Starting pitcher 5 good innings
Bullpen 4 innings of a tightrope act

Maybe we need to play in the cold all the time. Put a whopping on the Twins yesterday 16-5. Wright, Murphy, and Buck each had 4 RBIs...and Buck hits another HR (Grand Slam)...did not see that coming at all. At 6-4 right now...I certainly thought we'd be where the Marlins are at 1-9. :D

Doesn't get much closer than that, congrats.

Tigers need to win 2 in a row in Oakland, no easy task. Hope Verlander can pull off one today. Otherwise, Gurkhas are ready to fly. :)

Told you I was busy. I caught it in the 5th inning.

They did not hit at all. I'm convinced Verlander pays the umpires off. This umpire was inconsistent.

Again, no excuse for a loss. A's need to jump out early and hard tomorrow.

Go ahead and PM me your addy and I will get them out this week.

The match-up of Harvey vs Strasburg really never developed. Mets beats the Nats 7-1. Harvey pitched 7 strong innings and only giving up one run...to improve to 4-0. Can you say R.A. who?? :r :r Davis and Duda...the DD Boys each hit two HRs.

OK, so what about that play in the 8th of the Brewers/Cubs game last night. Jean Segura steals second successfully, then steals FIRST successfully, and THEN is caught stealing second!

"WTF??", you ask? Well, it happened. :r:r

Definitely one of the stranger plays I've seen.
I feel like there have been a ton of odd plays and happenings this year.
The Yanks 4-6-5-6-5-3-4 triple play, and the whole Zach Greinke incident comes to mind.

Re: MLB 2013 Thread

Porcello gives up 9 runs before 3 outs in the first, and the Tigers are out of it before going through their order once.

Through 17 games:

Jackson .316
Hunter .400
Cabrera .347 18 RBI
Fielder .328 19 RBI

and the rest of the team (besides Peralta) can't hit a lick. Feels a lot like last year already. Well, they won the AL Championship, so I guess that's not all bad. :r

Twins sweep a rain shortened, two game series with the ChiSox. Pitching has surprised the hell out of me this year and our bullpen has been great. Above .500 again. I think last year we were above .500 for about 3 games. Fun start to the season. Hope they can keep it going.

Twins going for six straight tonight against the poor Marlins. Can't believe this start of the season for us. After all the terrible teams I usually get to watch around here this has been a great surprise!

Tigers buy out Jose Valverde's Single A contract, bring him up to the Big Club, and he gets a 1-2-3 9th inning save.

I should be happy, but I am more nervous than happy right now. :lr

Curious to see how he bounces back.. Does he have a chip on his shoulder and just power through, or will he fall apart... again.
