I remember I was ecstatic when we FINALLY got a TV with a remote. I didn't have to get up and change channels for my parents anymore.

Re: How Old Are You?

We don't even watch tv if we can't find the remote. kind of nice sometimes

My mom collected both kinds of stamps and us kids used to help her put them in the stamp books... We were never allowed to come with when my parents redeemed the blue chip stamps. They usually redeemed the green stamps at the same grocery store where they got them.

Now it's all about afinity cards and points; The more things change the more they stay the same :)

So jealous of my friends Commodore 64. I had the Vic 20. Memory storage on cassette tapes. Games were an instruction manual to write it yourself in BASIC.

My first programming job (1976) was on an NCR Century 101. Fast card reader and quire reliable. The IBM card punch machines with the duplicate function were da bomb!

http://www.thecorememory.com/assets/...tury_100-6.jpg

I had been programming for several years beforehand, but the NCR is the only computer to electrocute me 3 times in one day, so it has a special place in my heart.

The switch panel lifts up. It has a 220 input to dive all of it. My stupid boss was telling me how to fix the card reader start button over the phone using a paper clip. After three tries, I told his to shove it and went home.

The start button on the card reader was broken and my boss claimed that it was a common occurrence and knew how to fix it. By the time he said, "well, maybe black isn't the ground", I had had enough.
