Veggie I cant eat fish:D

Re: Sushi
Love me some sushi. Personally I ask the sushi artists to make whatever they like...My regular guy (Ball) makes 4 or 5 rolls of his best and I will eat they hell out of it. The advantage of it is mostly because they know what is the freshest fish they have for the day and sometimes they will try a new roll/combo they haven't made before and usually taste amazing. Not much I won't eat, pretty much all of it is dynamite :tu

Re: Sushi
man do i love sushi, rolled or traditional it doesn't matter. i don't mind cream cheese on certain rolls. a mexican roll with cream cheese is actually pretty damn good if done properly. thank god i have a place that does both and we eat there once a week. they also serve all types of sake.
charlie is the primary chef. he is awesome and if you sit at the bar you can watch true skill being performed. he can roll a roll like no other. just a fine layer of rice perfectly wrapped. he did a special roll just for me the other night, i called it the rock and roll, had snapper, salmon, crab, shrimp and cucumber all in one and it was excellent. they do incredible tempura also and have a ton of stuff not on the menu. the place is a hole in the wall but it's won best of tampa bay for many years! it's called kaiko's. it's in clearwater off mcmullen booth but is by far the best in the area and charlie is just bad ass. if anyone is ever in the area i'll join you for sushi there and we can head to the bar after for a smoke and a beer. |
Re: Sushi
If you ever go to Corona Cigar in Orlando, Amura is next door and consistently voted top sushi in Orlando. In the summer, I sometimes grab it to go and eat outside Corona.
Their Atomic Bomb roll is my favorite. (weird name for something Japanese...) |
Re: Sushi

Re: Sushi
I love sushi, haven't had one i didn't love yet, altho honestly i don't like the chewy ones like octopus and surf clam as much as the melt in your mouth ones like tuna and hamachi
but still love em all! And sashimi is nice and healthy, pure protein |
Re: Sushi
Prefer the raw fish as opposed to the cooked (like shrimp), but other than that, I'm game.

Re: Sushi
I needed a sushi fix, but ended up getting conveyer belt sushi. LOL. It was okay, but at least it scratched that itch 'till I can get real sushi.
Have I mentioned how much I miss living in Los Angeles and having an awesome sushi restaraunt a block (aka stumbling) distance away? :r |

LOVE sushi. It wasnt so damn expensive I would eat it three times a day.
My fiance and I make it all the time. Here is the plate we made last week. |

Re: Sushi
Man I'm getting into this thread a bit late.
It's hard to find great sushi in Oklahoma, however "good" sushi isn't out of the question. In fact my fiance and I have probably eaten sushi 2-3 times a week for the last 7 years we've spent together. Nothing better then just your standard tuna roll! I'm not a big fan of all the fancy "new age" crap, but do eat some of it. We are mainly nigiri type people! Good thread. |
Re: Sushi
The wife and I got our sushi fix last weekend in Little Tokyo. I’m salivating just thinking about it. It was well worth the 45 minute wait.

One thing to keep in mind about Oomasa is that there’s not much of a scene there. The décor is dated….red, vinyl seats, but the food makes it worth checking out. Funny thing is that I saw an online dating commercial on TV the other day that was filmed there (can’t remember the name of the site). |
Re: Sushi
Damn. You guys have me craving it bad. I've been staying away because my wife was pregnant and now that she's breastfeeding the doctor is telling her to stay away still. So it's been about a year for me and I'm dying. But I'm such a good husband that I would never go eat it without her. Nah, wouldn't do that would I.:r

Re: Sushi
Split a big bowl of soba and then loaded up on some nigiri. Otoro, unagi, and a bunch of red, black and orange flying fish roe. A good lunch day today!
|
Re: Sushi
My first experience with sushi was some really bad sea urchin. My "friends" felt that it would be amusing to see me choke some of that down. It took me years to try it again. But recently a decent lil sushi bar here in Lexington served me some "baby" sushi...i guess you call em philly rolls...i really enjoyed that. So, I think I'll try something a little more adventurous next time around. :)

Re: Sushi
I never even knew this thread existed!!!!!! I just read the entire thing cuz sushi is my favorite....nothing compares.
Now I can't wait to go back home and eat some. There's this one place my family and I go every Friday like clockwork. It's called Kotobuki in Orange County by El Toro. The place only opens Thur-Sat 5-10 PM. And let me tell you it gets packed in there. We don't even order. We just sit down and Hiro just does what he does best and serves us. |
Re: Sushi
The owner of my favorite sushi joint died this week. 44 years old with two young children and a wife left behind.
R.I.P. Hook. You'll be missed brother. |
