I am on Jordan's side in this entire debate...until Steve Jobs is dead and in the ground, I will never own another Apple product...the cult-like nature that their products have inspired are absolutely comical...its like thinking an Opus X is bar far the single greatest cigar in the world...because CigarAficianado said so...there are many reasons as to why Apple has no real chance at taking a bite out of the PC market and its applications....I carry a BlackBerry...mainly for business uses...for instance, making phone calls and checking e-mail...not as a calorie calculator or a personal video game device....

I guess you can only say things like that for so long. When Apple *does* start taking a bite out of the PC market and out of the enterprise phone market -- as it *has* -- then your objections kind of ring hollow. Apple has a pretty darned successful platform that a lot of people *like* because, well, it works and offers a pleasing experience. I think that's why more and more people are buying Apple products.

Why can't people understand it is because we like their products. If we do, what is wrong with that? Can't it be like you like Mercedes and I like BMW and why should any of that be "comical"? Where on this thread does it say Steve Jobs is the best in the world as in your Opus X analogy?

I fully realize that, and depending on which side of the sales/marketing/engineering fence your views are on, one can see the lack of the upgrade slot as a good thing or a bad thing. Personally, I'm not thrilled with the possible lack of one.

I was wondering/asking if anyone had actually seen the full specs yet to confirm that it, like the 3G, was lacking the memory card slot.
(can't load Apple's website or engadget here - too painfull waiting for the pages to load via the remote)

Agreed. People should just come to the conclusion that others do, in fact, like the devices. That's why they sell. I don't enjoy the fanboy conversations usually. Granted, SJ is a bit of a tit at times but makes some awesome devices.

No memory card slot. Confirmed via the Tech Specs on Apple's page.

Maybe we should all just buy Apple stock instead.

Ahead of Steve Jobs' keynote address at the Worldwide Developers Conference, a BGC analyst initiates Apple [AAPL 250.94 -5.025 (-1.96%) ] Monday with a 'Buy' rating and a $350 price target.

Not a bad gig.
To date, 50 million iPhones sold.
Compared to US population (while not valid as it is 50 million worldwide but just for the sake of conversation), that translates to 1 iPhone for every 6 Americans.
If that is not astonishing, what is?

Released just 3 years ago and a total of 50 million robotic fanboys and girls blindly following Steve Jobs like a Pied Piper. And then after taking the "love him 'cause he is God juice" that comes in the box with the phone, you actually believe it is a good product because you tell yourself so.

Frankly, heck, I am no longer a fan. I am now truly jealous I am not him.;)

You're forgetting one key fact though.

50 million iPhones sold doesn't necessarily equate to 50 million currently in service ;)

Lots of people have upgraded to newer revisions.

If I were Steve Jobs, I wouldn't give a rat's behind if they bought them as replacements or bought them to use them as suppositories and then show up in local ERs looking to have them removed.:r

50 million is still 50 million.

Actually no... I don't.... :D (sorry to get your hopes up)

He was comparing to 1 in 6 Americans thus generalizing a comparison between the amount of people walking around the US and the amount of iPhones in their hands (albeit he did clarify that the 50 mil is a worldwide tally)

Just thought it fair to point out that the number is skewed from that perspective :D

I stand corrected.

300,000,000 Americans divided by 50,000,000 iPhones = the analogous equivalent of imagining having soled 1 phone for every 6 Americans.

OK,
More fun later.
Have to do some shopping with wife.

You should reread his statement. He was comparing the number SOLD with a population. His comparison holds, both in context and statistically. He didn't say that the number of UNIQUE PERSONS buying was 50M, just that 50M have been sold.

Well, duh...

Dis an Apple product, Apple users typically go apeshit.

Dis an Intel or Microsoft product, Intel and Microsoft users tend to just shrug and go about their business.
