Re: Winter Olympics!!
Very disappointed in the US woman's curling team. They did not get the clutch shots and lost to the Germans. The good thing is my daughters became a fan of curling after I had them watch the match.

Re: Winter Olympics!!
Shawn White was SICK tonight in the halfpipe!
|
Re: Winter Olympics!!
Lindsey Vonn was pretty impressive, especially when they showed in the replays how she was basically doing her turns on one leg.

From Letterman's "Top Ten Surprising Facts Aboot Curling" last night:
"Every year, dozens of people watch." :r Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Winter Olympics!!
You know, NBC is really pissing me off. It was getting late last night, so I saw Shaun White's first run at the half-pipe, but didn't stay up to watch the second. So here I am, searching the internet for a video of it, and every single one I find is pulled due to copyright infringement. They don't have it available on the NBC site. You would almost think NBC is trying to make these olympics as inaccessible as possible.

Re: Winter Olympics!!
I normally enjoy the Winter Games but for some reason just can't seem to get interested in them this year.
|
Re: Winter Olympics!!
There's only so much room, and they have all that brilliant commentary from Katie Couric and Mary Carillo (who I'm pretty sure was a man at some point).

Re: Winter Olympics!!
Do you guys know if the games can be watched online legally? If not NBC needs to get with the times, they could show any event live that way.

Not that it will go anywhere, but I sent NBC a email telling them I thought their coverage was very poor and hoped ESPN gets the next contract. Why are we seeing time delayed sports for an Olympics in the same time zone as the US? To watch online you have to download M$ Silverlight and provide your cable TV account information to them, and that aint gonna happen. BUT, they cry and whine when people try to go around all the BS they setup up. I just want to click a link and watch a flash box show a sport in real time. Not hard to do for any 11th grader in high school. |
Re: Winter Olympics!!
You can try channelsurfing.net. They might have some usable feeds.
|
Re: Winter Olympics!!
Justin.tv has some feeds. I was able to watch most of the women's downhill until all of a sudden the feed was pulled for "copyright" reasons. This happened just as the German was beginning to do her run- likely the last challenger for the gold. Like I said, I cannot begin to watch the NBC coverage because it is crap of the highest odor. Nothing beats seeing an event LIVE w/o constant commercial and back story interruptions!

Re: Winter Olympics!!
Wow that was a great game. The shoot out was good. I was surprised how well Brodeur did. I wish he could play this well for us in the regular season...

What a great game. The Swiss almost pulled it off!

Re: Winter Olympics!!
Just a thought, as I'm treated to NBC's extensive figure skating coverage: If you're wearing a shirt open to your solar plexus, you might want to do something about the giant zit on your chest. Just sayin'...

Re: Winter Olympics!!
NBC has such knowledgeable commentators. From the Today Show Olympic recap this morning, referring to the USA win over Canada yesterday:
"It's not the Miracle on Ice. It wasn't for the gold medal." Um... the Miracle on Ice wasn't a medal match either... Posted via Mobile Device |

But let me tell you how I really feel about "broadcasters" By the way, I wouldn't call the USA defeat of Canada a miracle but I would rate it right behind the Saints beating the Colts. |
Re: Winter Olympics!!
USA vs. Switzerland hockey on right now. This looks to be a good game. Back and forth, lots of shooting. Both goalies have been making some awesome saves. :tu

Re: Winter Olympics!!
keep us updated, I'll be at school for another couple hours

Re: Winter Olympics!!
Well, the US went on the offensive after holding the Swiss to only 1 shot on a power play. 0-0 after the 1st, with USA outshooting Switzerland 18-4.

Re: Winter Olympics!!
The good news for you guys down south is apparently NBC is shifting the remainder of the hockey coverage to the main NBC network since they got 8.2million viewer on MSNBC for the USA v Canada game on Sunday so hopefully your viewing opportunities will get a bit better. If intriguing to see if that changes is the Swiss manage to pull off a MASSIVE upset today.
|
Re: Winter Olympics!!
They trade power plays with no shots on goal for either team. Still scoreless.

Re: Winter Olympics!!
OK, I stand corrected. Neither team has managed a shot on goal with 2 PPs each.

Re: Winter Olympics!!
The Swiss just dodged a bullet. Puck off Hiller's shoulder and in, but time expired just before it crossed the line. 0-0 after 2 periods, US leads shots on goal 32-8. Hiller is singlehandedly keeping Switzerland in this game.

Re: Winter Olympics!!
US scores on a PP: 1-0

Re: Winter Olympics!!
Wow, Switzerland bangs one off the post. US takes the puck down, apparently scores, but Kessler gets called for interference in front of the goal. Swiss on a PP. Still 1-0.

Re: Winter Olympics!!
Switzerland pulls their goalie and it ends up backfiring. US wins 2-0.

Hockey is a passion up here, sometimes people get carried away. It's not like Americans have never boo'd Canadians at sporting events. In the case of the US - Canada game tonight, its the match up both teams have been waiting for. Should be a great game |
