I didn't even notice Triple H. I was trying to figure out if it was actually Beiber :lr He's gonna need to do more than that for some street cred.

Justin Bieber/Triple H/Fiddy Cent. I'm deferring to Cookie Monster on this one.

Those who know me know I am not a fan of Floyd Mayweather. That being said, he came to fight last night, did not run away, and soundly beat a good fighter.

But I still hope Manny knocks his block off.

I do appreciate Pretty Boy for calling out Arum as the reason the fight can't happen. :hm

He was really trying to change public opinion about himself personally in the 2 post fight interviews.

Didn't change mine, he is just a manipulator and a self-absorbed doucherod.

He finally fought a fight I wasn't pissed for watching, but he is a complete ass. I think he realizes that the public isn't buying all his BS about why he won't fight Pacquiao any longer, but I am not ure where he is going with this recent change of attitude. In the end, he still probably comes up with a new excuse. :hm

Eh, I'm not really excited to see the fight anymore. Pacquiao's last fight seemed like it had no heart in it. I'm thinking he's becoming more of a politician than a boxer. I also think that Mayweather is just looking to retire with a super big payout, win or lose. Winning would just be the icing on the cake.

I'm not a fan of Mayweather never have been but in this case I think Manny keeps dodgeing him, why not just take the blood test and fight.. if you got nothing to hide take the test. I'm sure there is a lot more going on but thats just my Opinion

Pacquiao agreed to random bloodtesting over two years ago. His one stipulation is that he wouldn't on the day of the fight.

Another thing Manny hasn't agreed to is the fight money Mayweather had offered. Mayweather offered him $50M of the take, which could exceed $400M. Not exactly a fair split. :sh

Yea no way Manny is dodging Mayweather. Mayweather needs to concede on a few things to make this fight happen. Problem is I don't think Mayweather thinks he needs this fight, when in all actuality his legacy will be tarnished if he doesn't fight Pacquaio

Mayweather goes to jail today. Can't say I'm not a little happy because he is getting what he deserves but it also means for the next 87 days we won't get any closer to seeing the fight everyone wants to see (except Mayweather)

Can an Admin change the thread title. It is just patently false. This fight isn't getting closer and never will. Every time this thread pops up again it is false advertising. :D

Lol. Well in the words of my CO brother, "That scrub is sitting most the day in the LT's office talking boxing and having lunch, and that is IF the warden isn't a boxing fan. Then they will escort him back to his private cell".

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground

Yahoo Sports:

Quote:

The burden, finally, is fully and entirely on Floyd Mayweather Jr. to make a fight with Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao agreed Thursday during appearances on two separate television shows on ESPN to give Mayweather a 55-45 advantage on a financial split should they fight, as the public has been demanding since late 2009. A match between them is expected to be the most lucrative bout in boxing history.

Pacquiao, who meets Juan Manuel Marquez for a fourth time on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas, had been demanding a 50-50 split. Without such a split, he’d said repeatedly over the last 18 months that he would not agree to a fight with Mayweather.

The other major hurdle blocking the fight between the two men regarded by many as the two best in the world was Mayweather's demand for Olympic-style drug testing. Initially, Pacquiao balked at the testing. He has since changed his stance and has said repeatedly over the last year he would fully comply with the tests, just as Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz and Miguel Cotto have done in Mayweather's last three fights.

In a telephone interview with Yahoo! Sports on Monday, Pacquiao made no mention of a purse split, but he was as optimistic about the possibility of a fight with Mayweather as he had ever been.

"I think Mayweather will be next," Pacquiao said, declining to specify why.

But by agreeing to give Mayweather the lion's share of the purse, Pacquiao has shifted the onus to Mayweather.

:r I think they both have the same punching speed but I also think Canelo hits harder. Bad thing is I think Canelo is too young and will try to go for the knock out early and that will be his downfall. :2

I would pay big money to see Canelo knock Big Mouth on his arse, Jason. :tu

On the other hand, I would wager a 5'er of good cigars on Big Mouth if it came down to it. ;)

Agreed on the window possibly being shut, I am not sure Manny is the fighter he was a couple years ago....sad that this fight didn't happen then. Canelo may have the best chance at this point, but he will need to fight a super intelligent fight.

Canelo vs Mayweather next weekend. I will definitely be watching.

I don't think we will ever see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao now. Looks like the time has passed unless Pacquiao fights someone, wins, and that is enough to bring interest back to this fight.

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground

Man I love boxing but I just can't push the buy button on a big mouth fight. Too much dancing around the ring without enough punching. I watched my DVD of PAC man vs margarito last week and that was a great fight. So Tom and anyone else, let me ask you. Am I missing something by not watching this guy dance around? Do I need to appreciate his boxing skills in another way? Does Canelo actually have a decent chance of winning?

icehog3 09-06-2013 10:30 AM

Re: Pacquiao-Mayweather bout gaining ground

John, the price for the Big Mouth fight certainly gives me pause. When I bite on his fights, it's just hoping this might be the time he hits the canvas. I know he is an excellent "boxer", but his fights usually leave me cold.

Bar in town is showing it for a $10 cover, I will likely go there to watch rather than pony up $75 to see it at home.

Broke down and paid the scratch for the fights, that Garcia - Mathisse fight might end up being the sleeper.

Going to fire up an Edmundo Dantes for the headliner in hopes that Canelo pulls off the upset.

Watched the fight with a brother and some good cigars. Witnessed Floyd tactically breakdown another fighter. The Money Team!!
