Re: Fuente vs. Padron
There are more Padron sticks near the top of my personal review dB, so they get the nod. I like the variety of Fuente and am looking forward to trying some of their high-end sticks (Añejo Shark & Don Carlos) that I haven't had yet.
woo hoo--fancy ñ symbol :ss |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
The Fuente vs. Padron debate it hard. The lower end Fuente's dont do anything for me, and I would always take a regular series Padron over them. However, I really do enjoy the Anejo's, Opus X, and Madi Hemingways. Lets see, 1964 Anni vs. Anejo- that is a really hard decision to make.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Padron wins easily for me because everything they attempt to do is well done.
From their lowliest handmade cigar to the top of the line, they are all worth smoking. I do not like much Fuente anymore except for the Spanish Lonsdale and the 858. Hell, I don't even smoke NC cigars anymore. But I would always take a Padron if offered, and that is not true of a Fuente. |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Fuentes all day, everyday for me.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Fuente for me. I still love a PAM though.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Fuente or Padron......hmmmmmmmmmmmm
The last cigar of the 2 brands that I actually smoked was probably a Padron Anni. Before that it was an OpusX xXx, but before that was a Londres...... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH can't we just talk about politics? how about religion? I have a Sh!t load of Opus, and quite a few Padron to the point that I forgot I had some 80th anni's. I should go home and smoke one after the Sixers beat Orlando to tie the series tonight. How about PaFuentron are my favorites. :al |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Glad we don't have to make a choice between the two in real life!!!;)

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Overall, the Padron line.. Especially with the prices..
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Padrón is the suck.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Fuente for me. Too many great blends when, for me, the Anny line is all I really buy with any regularity from Padron.
I like the Hemingway and Don Carlos blends as much as any cigar from any other blender anywhere. |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaadron for me. The Fuentes are not doing it for me although I keep trying ...........
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I look at things like the executive, a giant double corona and just a perfect cigar. The Padron Panatela is as about as good a NC LSP as you will find. The robusto and toro sizes are perfectly blended. The tobacco TASTES better to me, but I am a Nic ho. Fuente has all my respect, but they are just all over the place with blends and wrappers and line extensions. I can't cope. GREAT cigars, but not as good overall as Padron, JIMOO.
And who am I kidding, I haven't had one of either in 8-9 years, :) |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
In honor of this thread I pulled out a Padron 1926. Mehhh... it is decent. Perfect construction, nice volume of smoke, but the flavor is very muted. Reaffirms my vote for Fuente.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Both make quality smokes, I prefer the flavor profile of Padron.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I've only had lower end Fuente's but Padron really suits my taste.

Looks to be pretty one sided at this point. I think I am going to need to smoke a couple more Padrons.

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I don't really know if I could choose one. Hope I'm never in the situation where I can only smoke one brand for the rest of my life but if I were in that situation I'd hope it would be one of these two!
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I went with fuente only because I felt forced to pick one. I smoked 6 fuentes this week and only 3 padrons so I guess I will go with the fuentes for now. Not really a fair question fuente offers so much as far as choices go.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I love them both, but if I had to choose one, I'd have to go with Fuente.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Arturo Fuente.
I just had my first Arturo Fuente Don Carlos, it was the Robusto. It was very expensive but such a fantastic cigar. I mainly smoke Habanos, but after smoking this I am definately going to be looking more into Arturo Fuente and NC cigars. |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
If I was forced to go with just one it would depend on the particular cigar. I would flip a coin. No problem here with either of those brands.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Padron it was for me, never had a bad one, and like most folks, i have a soft spot for the anniversary smokes.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I have to go with Padron. However Fuente makes some good smokes and they are usually easier to find at a good price then the Padrons with the exception of the high end cigars.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Fuente for me. I need variety:ss
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I like the Padron 1926 Anniversary very much, and would have, until recently, voted for Padron. Then I had my first, second and third Anejo, and that, for me, gives Arturo Fuente a slight edge.
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I like both... but I would have to say Fuente!
Anejo, Opus, GOF... these are some of my favorites. :ss |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I voted Padron because I love the padron maddies from the '000 series to the '64 and '26, they are amazingly consistent and like I said, I love the flavor. The only thing with picking padron is that it is consistent to the point of boring. You better like the flavor because it is what it is over and over and over. That said the fuente line is far more diverse but not nearly as consistent. I have had Opus cigars that blew me away and others that were quite disappointing and this goes for most of the fuente line. If fuente could get their quality control to the same level as padron with their diversity I would definitely pick the fuente but my experience with fuente to this point is hit or miss.
The anejo's are more hit than miss though. |
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
lots of wiggle room there, as a line Fuente has more to offer and at different price range but I'd put a 1964 up against a hemmingway classic anyday. Fuente for me....
|
Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I am not sure if I could decide between the higher end stuff in their lines. Truthfully I don't like the Padron X000 series or any of the regular production Fuente stuff. I like PAM and PAN 40th and 80th and Opus, Anejo and DCM. :tu

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
Fuente - 858 IMHO is a reliable smoke. Not the best cigar by any means, but reliable. :2

For some reason I have had some bad luck with Fuente, and just the opposite with Padron. So, I voted Padron. :2

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
I picked Fuente because I smoke far more fuente's than padrons. Fuente has a wide array of flavors and bodies. Padron has one. It's a damn good one, but I bore of it pretty quickly.
If I could only smoke one brand or the other, I'd choose Fuente in a second even though Padron's best cigar is probably better than fuente's best cigar. |

Padron is OK, but I have to go with A. Fuente.

For me Padron all day. :tu

Re: Fuente vs. Padron
What's the saying KISS, never ever been disappointed by a padron the most consistent cigar I've ever smoked. Fuentes are great. I just always go back to padron on this one.
