Our number two has been acting up a bit here and there. If it continues, they will get called, again. 2nd one in less then a year. And we (or I) haven't been using it half as much as I used too.

It's still a great machine.

We just bought one for my parents for Christmas. I hope it holds up.

I own 3 machines, a B70 at home, a B60 in my hooch here in Baghdad, and a travel one in the office. I love them. Coffee reaches me in about 10 days or less. Machines are all over the place here.

I have been considering buying one of the Keurig units. I like the option of brewing up to a 12 oz cup for my travel mug. Since many of the units have various cup-size options, what changes, if any, occur in brewing the coffee?
Is the same amount of coffee used regardless of the desired cup size? Will the 12 oz cup be weak compared to a 6 oz cup?

Same pod regardless of size brewed.I'll sometimes use two pods to brew a big cup because I like stronger coffee.
I wouldn't say the larger cups taste noticeably weaker though.
Some of the holiday blends have been pretty tasty.

What Dave said, regardless of cup size selected the machine uses one K-Cup.

I prefer strong coffee (read not-watery) and I brew on the 8 ounce size mostly.

With the K-Cups I use I can also brew on the 12 ounce size and it is NOT watery at all, still very good. (Jet-Fuel, Black Tiger, Sumatra, etc)

But with some K-cups, like Breakfast Blend or ones like that, the 12 ounce is too weak for me. If I am brewing for my large travel mug (20 oz) I will brew twice, both times on 8 ounce.

It's really about selecting the right brew for the cup size.

Re: Who has a Keurig coffee pot?

I just ordered some REVV K cups.
The claim is that each cup contains more coffee for a stronger brew.
I haven't tried one yet so it may just be a marketing ploy.

Re: Who has a Keurig coffee pot?

Wow! I have a Melita One Cup. You place a #2 brown filter in it and then place it atop a 10oz coffee mug. Then I place 3 well rounded tablespoons of Trader Joe's House Blend (Sumatra & Columbian) in my coffee grinder, and grind it on the fine cycle (about 17 seconds). I place this fine grind in the coffee filter and pour boiling water that has rested for approximately 30 seconds over the top, and drink it black.

This produces a heftly cup of joe at a very inexpensive cost...:tu

That much caffeine Dom? I really enjoy the Tully's Kona Blend, but there's morning's where I can really use the extra kick. If that's the case with the Revv, I may have to pick some up.

Anyone used the reusable filter? Just wondering how well it works... and how fine/coarse you leave the beans.

There are a number of different reusable filter type products, which one are you referring to?

I like to order from the Keurig site, because you build up points to get the B70s at discount.

As far as coffee, I like strong. Extra Bold or dark roast.

My favorites are Green Mountain Double Black Diamond, Dark Magic, Espresso

I also like the Paul Newman Organic XBold.

That's the one I have been using as well. It works really well.

Pros:

Use your own coffee
If your regular K-cup holder breaks can be used to still make coffee

Cons:

It can overflow. (I have a fix for this that worked perfectly)
It makes one cup, then you have to clean it. Not really a con but becomes a hassle.

That's what has held me back from buying it. I have a hard enough time remembering to clean my travel mug every day.

How fine of a grind do you have to use with any of the reusable cups?

I just use regular drip grind. Not espresso but not coarse either. The trick is not filling the basket all the way to the top and making sure the black o-ring that is on the unit itself fits snugly against the top.

If your pump is failing there is not amount of descaling that will help. The only time that helps is when the nozzle is clogged (at least in my experience). Just jump through the hoops so they will send you a replacement. :2

Anyone happen to notice the prices on Amazon have gone up considerably on k-cups and brewers? Most 50 count boxes are now $27.75, instead of the usual $22-23. Brewers seems to be $10 or so more. Guess it's Christmas!

Ditto, we are on number three. At least they are standing behind the product. If this one breaks again I am going to ask for a different model. I bought the best though and anything will be a step down.

If you registered it with them to get the free K-Cups you should be good to go. Otherwise you may have to ask really, really, really nice. :sh

Same way they replaced it the first time, I called up and explained it wasn't working (short-filling, not brewing full cups, pump failing), I jumped through the hoops (descale, clean nozzle, etc) and they sent me a new one. No problem at all, just had to talk to customer service a few times.

EDIT: Sorry Wayner, just noticed you were talking to scott...didn't mean to butt in.

No worries. I just wondered how they would replace it more than once. I have called 5 times to get a new k-cup holder and they keep giving me the run around. I finally got told that I need to destroy the unit I have (even though it was a gift) because the unit had already been traded in. Which makes me think that if someone got their unit replaced 2,3, etc times, they would have spare models laying around.

Probably why you see a bunch of them on ebay being sold as "parts only".

They made me send back the K-Cup holder part, which is likely why they are giving you a hard time about replacing the part. See below...

Exactly, most of them are missing the K-Cup holder part so chances are they were replaced. I kept the reservoir from both of ours but just chucked the rest. That little part they make you send back sell on ebay for like $30 bucks. I guess there would be a big market for getting a replacement and buying the K-cup holder so you could re-sell the "replaced" unit.

Add me to the list of new owners.

Apparently it was a combined effort from the wife and cousin - Got the brewer (B60) 3 "My KCups" and at best guess, 300+ "cups" - (I think they robbed the department store) Seriously, now my kitchen makes the waiting room lounge at the Infiniti dealership look cheap. :r

Has anyone ever tried a product called the ""MyKap"? I've seen it advertised on my gmail account. Apparently, it's a small, round hard plastic cover that you snap on top of a used K-cup, after cleaning and refilling. their website is here: MyKap

I was just wondering.... :)

I haven't personally used it, but I have watched a few video reviews. It seems like it's more of a pain than the my K-cup. As you have to remove the foil then clean out the small cup first. There also seems to be a good amount of carry over on flavor as the paper filter that was used previously is saturated with the previous flavor/blend.

You can align the bottom hole up with the needle so that you use the same hole.

Taking a look at those versus the Make Your own K-cup, I think I'd rather have the Make your own K-Cup... we actually returned the K-Cup unit Keurig sells and I'm ordering the make your own... no switching out the unit, etc and it uses tiny filters which makes the cleanup easier... just my 1.5 cents!!!

I am not sure which one you are talking about. There are a few aftermarket parts:

My K-Cup
My Kap
Perfect Pod Holster
Perfect Pod maker

Which are you talking about?

Re: Who has a Keurig coffee pot?

I just got two Solofill cups for my Keurig. After a little experimentation with fill level and grind, I am getting pretty damn good coffee out of my Keurig. Which is saying a lot. Works about a hundred times better than the My K-cup. It is definitely on par with a really good regular drip machine and definitely surpasses regular K-cups. Not quite as good as a french press, but it is definitely quicker and cleaner.
