Re: Favorite Steak House
There is a local placed called Chicago Prime that has some great melt in your mouth steak. Doesn't hurt to know the owner too. :)

House of Prime Rib in San Francisco.
I've tried to enjoy Harris Ranch Steakhouse in Coalinga but their meat or at least the way they prepare it just sucks butt. |

The Pump Room in the Ambassodor Hotel - Chicago Ribeye!
#2 Local Single Location - CHARLIE'S STEAK HOUSE A NEW ORLEANS TRADITION SINCE 1932 - It was destroyed in Katrina but back open. I am not sure it is under the same ownership though. Porterhouse! #3 Local Single Selection - Johnny's Cafe in Omaha, NE. There is another place in Omaha called Johnny's Italian Steakhouse (chain) that is very good and a bit more modern but the Cafe is at the old Stockyards and fabulous for those of us who appreciate Old School atmosphere. Prime Rib is Great! #4 Single Location - Rube's Steakhouse & Lounge - Des Moines Metro - Waukee, IA ... Best beef anywhere but you cook it yourself. Also a great place to order steak from as they are a butchershop also. Filet Mignon! In the multi-location (chain) class I most enjoy Sullivans, The Palm and Pappas Steak House. Pappas is at the top of the list here, only 2 locations Dallas & Houston. |
Re: Favorite Steak House
The Irma Hotel established in 1902 still owned by decedents of Buffalo Bill Cody family. western beef oh so good :tu
Kobe Japan, To be called Kobe Beef the meat must not only come from a Wagyu cow but also have been produced in Kobe and meet rigid production standards. But the Kobe cow is given a very high quality feed and is not force-fed. Once in a while the cattle is given a drink of beer, the effect of the beer is to increase the cows appetite so it eats more. Because it isn’t force fed, the cow is generally less stressed and everybody knows that a stressed cow gives tougher meat? This brings us to massaging. Farmer’s hand massages the cows to tenderize the meat and to relax the cow. The farmers insist that this directly affects the quality of the meat and once you have taisted this meet you will never forget. Kobe Beef in the United States Is not even Comparable :D |

Re: Favorite Steak House
Haven't been to a lot of the havey hitters, but of the one's I've ate at I'd say that Primehouse in Chicago brought the lumber.

Re: Favorite Steak House
I eat at Del Frisco's a lot because it's a block away from my office and I do love it, but of the steakhouses I've been to, I'd probably rank Pappas Bros (Houston and Dallas) as my first and maybe Delmonico's (Vegas) as my second.

Park Drive Bar & Grill in Los Angeles

Re: Favorite Steak House
One of the best meals I had was at the SW steakhouse in the Wynn.
Delmonicos was great here as well, but SW had them beat in my book. Peter Luger in Brooklyn has good food but I felt like the staff thought they were doing me a favor by letting me eat there. Not stuffy, snooty, pinky in the air atmosphere, more like aren't you lucky to be eating here sort of vibe. Wolfgangs in NYC is a real treat as well. |
Re: Favorite Steak House
Every year for our anniversary, my wife and I go to an upscale steak restaurant for dinner. I have many I like, but the best we''ve ever had was at Smith and Wollensky in Washington DC. It may be because it was our first anniversary over 11 years ago and what started this tradition, but man, it was fantastic.
Others that were memorable that we've enjoyed: Smith and Wollensky (Philly), Capital Grille (Philly), and recently Le Cellier (WDW - Epcot) to name a few. I don't remember being enamored by Ruth Chris or Morton's. Very good...don't get me wrong, but not quite as good. |

Oh, and Doe's Eat Place in Greenville, MS. One of the most unusual steakhouses I've ever been to. |
