I can't believe it took until post 12 for Freddie Mercury to be mentioned. He had one of the best voices in the history of music, period. Roy Orbison was pretty damn good as well. I know he's not for everyone's taste, but Thom Yorke is damn good at what he does.

Just because I'm not familiar with some of the named vocalists doesn't mean they aren't great vocalists ;)

Y'all have listed a lot of great names. Some personal favorites that haven't yet been thrown out there are Adam Duritz (Counting Crows) and Art Alexakis (Everclear).

Re: Greatest male vocalists

Elton John
K.Angylus
Steve Von Till
Michael Gira

I didnt go through the entire thread so the first two on my list might be reposts

I was going to add Leonard Cohen but as a singer alone he isnt great it's everything else about him musically combined that makes him great. I was also going ot add Mick Jagger but some of the tracks he has done dont really impress me.

I am somewhat surprised that Ray Charles has not yet made the list.

Really no need for a list, he is one of the BEST ever. He could sing it all.
