It's basically Ebay for cigars. You set up an account, add a credit card, and start bidding. It's owned by CI.

It's an auction site. You can get good deals, sometimes great deals. But you can also pay too much if you haven't done your homework. Don't rely on the "MSRP" that they offer for each lot -- check CI, Famous, and other major retailers to find the real price. The price comparison at www.cigarcyclopedia.com is very helpful.

I then use the autobid feature to set my bid to some price that's discounted from the best price I can find online (whether at CI or someplace else). I often do some research on www.c-h-i-m-p.com to figure out what discount to use. If I win, great. If not, I don't worry -- these aren't unique lots and odds are good that the cigars will be there again tomorrow or next week.

Bottom line: if you do your homework, bid smart, and don't caught up in the competitive drive to win at all costs, it can be a good way to get cigars for prices well below retail. But be warned that it's addictive and easy to spend way too much money, which is why around here it's often called "the devil site."

Good luck.
