Re: First Firearm Thread.

Only do armslist if they're a local buyer. I heard of a lot of scams with shipping on armslist

Guys, on the stock, I understand the differences between commercial and mil spec.
That said, left or right, up or down, in or out, commercial or mil spec?:D

I was asking myself the same question last night. The big diff I could find was the buffer tube. Mil-spec is non-extruded and milled to spec, whereas commercial is extruded and no milling involved, except for the threads (if you want to call that milling). The tube sizes are different, so they're not interchangeable. If you already have a commercial tube, I'd say stick with that and save yourself the money of buying a new tube, spring, etc.

But then I have no real world experience yet with either type of stock. But I did order a comm Magpul CTR for my AR that's still on order.

Carlos, Bob’s analyses is spot on. BUT I find that the threads on the commercial tube generally fit loser and are flatter when you look close at them.

I have seen 2 AR's that the commercial tubes loosen up and let the buffer detent pop out and the buffer & spring launched out jamming them up pretty good, I use NOTHING but the mil spec receiver extension. When I got my last new AR from Yankee Hill in December first thing I did was remove the commercial tube. (What do you want from a $1440 AR, HAHA?)

I think the last mil spec stock/buffer receiver extension I got from Bravo was only $65

Mil-spec is supposed to be stronger and better if you want to hit things with it (door/head). I have commercial setup but that's only because I got it cheap. It is easier to find mil-spec stuff though

Thanks guys.
So mil spec with H buffer and Magpul of my liking.

Now, to find it, buy it, get it and not die for it.

I really think she is hitting the end of the line with this stuff.
I can always tell as she retaliates on HSN and seems packages are starting to arrive daily for her.:r

Yep, me too! She's out of the country, I'll be joining her next month, so she'll never know on my end :)

Of course, it may be the last of nearly everything I buy for the next 5 years, she's not exactly pro-gun yet..... :hn
