Today was some medium roast Community Coffee. Wasn't made proper. It was watered down IMO.

Having some Sumatra coffee today. Not as strong as I hoped. Next up is some Costa Rice coffee. Anyone have thoughts on that coffee?

Hello Rich,

Costa Rican coffee is spot-on! A good majority of beans I've had from that Country was good stuff. I still have some Costa Rica Peaberry green beans awaiting to be roasted.

In the early 90's, my wife and I visited the Country for 3 weeks (my in-laws were retired at the time on the West coast in a town named Samra). Prior to leaving Costa Rica, I had the opportunity to visit and tour Cafe Brit. CB sits on the slopes of 5 volcano's and some pretty fertile soil. Enjoyed seeing the fields, processing process, roasting of the green beans, how they taste, and of course, drinking of the final product.

There are other growers (co-ops, etc) in Costa Rica that produce coffee beans, and there is some good stuff that originates from that Country.

Enjoy!

Ground up the Costa Rican this morning. WOWZERS, that was a great cup of coffee. Wish this stuff wasn't so pricey though. I guess you get what you pay for, right?

Today it was some freshly roasted Kenya Nyeri Hill AA. I have stocked up on several varieties of Kenya green beans recently.

Re: COFFEE: What are you drinking?

Picked up 2 kilos of Cubita that is a nice change of pace from Mayorga or Peets. I like to rotate coffee. Once the first kilo is gone I'll switch to our regular beans.

Funny how Mayorga is a "Cuban Style" coffee but everything about it is so different from Cubita which I assume would the "real deal"? Cubita is a lighter roast and tastes more like Colombian coffee.

What's the other big Cuban grown coffee brand in the burgundy colored bag?

I've been enjoying the Bolivian organic from Parisi lately. A lighter medium roast. I generally make it in my Chemex, but it actually makes a great cold brew as well.

You know what suprised me about moving to Miami? Whole bean coffee isnt to be found. Its not in stores and the few local roasters want like $20 a pound for average coffee. So I mail ordered from my favorite plave in Houston. Drinking a single farm Guatemalan that is a favorite.

Oh and Houston has better restaraunts too. Better beaches here though. :)

Peet's Major Dickason's this week, still my go to blend. Had some Black Rifle a couple of weeks ago. Quite tasty.

Since it looks like my old roaster has given up the heating element, I have been buying Black Rifle Coffee at my local gun shop.

Today was a few shots of C.A.F. (Caffeinated As F**K) out of the Keurig

Costa Rica Juanachute honey process in the French press. Light roast from my local roaster. Can't go there and buy the beans while I have an espresso ☹️ but I can still order their beans online and get them delivered.

After realizing that caffeine just isn't for me anymore, l've switched over to decaf and am really focusing on making it part of my morning routine so I have some time to reflect and relax before starting to work. Even more important now that I'm just working from home.

Cat & Cloud Friend Zone Decaf has been a winner so far, Ethiopian and packed full of flavor. If it's any indication of their other roasts, I highly encourage everyone taking a look. Very fast shipping too!

Drinking a cup of the Brazil peaberry I roasted the other night. Not bad, but could’ve gone a little longer on the roast.

Re: COFFEE: What are you drinking?

A mix of the Brazil I roasted earlier this week and some Sumatra beans from a local grocery store. The Sumatra has toned down the very light roast I did on the Brazil. A little sweetener and some half and half, makes for a decent cup.

I roasted that a while back, before I had an espresso machine... I have 1lb of green, that I am very curious to see how it taste from my espresso machine.

How dark/light you roast it?

When I was roasting at home, iirc, I’d take that right to second crack. Maybe even just shy of it. But that was a long time ago and I no longer have my notes. So take it for what it’s worth.

Yeah I used to roast years ago, but I ended up stopping when the time vs quantity factor started getting in the way a bit. I have been thinking about going back to it - I still have my old Hottop in a box somewhere.

United Dairy Farmers Espresso Roast. Yes, that's local gas station/convenience store coffee, but I fill my 20 oz. mug for $1.19, and get $.03 off a gallon of gas when refueling there.

And no, I really don't have any business taking part in this thread. :r
