Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
It holds an edge it's just not going to be the best. However it is supposed to be very easy to sharpen too so it's kind of a balance
Here is a bunch more of the Salt line of knives http://www.bladehq.com/cat--Spyderco-Salt-Series--776 |

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
I read through a couple of those threads, and they seem to all say the same: "The edge retention gets better, and it sharpens like a dream." Hm... A couple of the guys are from MA as well, so that is a bonus.

Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
You planning on getting it wet often? Do you work on the water?
|
Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
My Wife and I are going to get into Camping, and Fishing. Just seems like a really smart investment.
We live about 10 miles from the Ocean. I can taste the salt in the air usually. |
Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
There are plenty of great steels out there that are very rust resistant. S30V is a good one that Spyderco uses alot. VG-10 also. Zero Tolerance uses S30V in many of their knives also. If you don't plan on submerging it in water for a while then H1 might be overkill, I mean if you want it go for it. You can literally put h1 in a bucket of salt water for hours.
Hell, I live in FL where it's humid as all get out and even my 8cr13mov Spyderco Tenacious doesn't rust if I wipe it down every now and then. |
Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
See, I wasn't sure if it was over kill or not. If I was a lobster fisherman, I'd get it.
You make valid points Sir. I'll look at S30V, VG-10. Edit: Oh baby. |
Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
That Spyderco I posted above is S30V. The ZT 0350 is a good blade and is S30V. Both can be had for under $120. The Black handle silver blade para2 can be had for right at $100. Kershaw makes a Blur is S30V for under $100.
Knives with S30V will be US made, VG-10 will be made in Japan(still great quality) |
Re: (Official?) Pocket Knife Discussion Thread
Oh that's tempting.
Once I get some Cigars in the humi, I will put some cash aside for a new edc. I have a SOG Trident that I sometimes carry... But living right outside of Boston, I tend to avoid carrying anything. |
