Cam Ward is a great goalie, and a quality person. Hoping he will be OK. Heard on the radio broadcast that they were keeping him in the hospital overnight... was hoping they would get a couple of stitches and release him. I will be listening intently for his condition. |

Kipper put on a show tonight.
Big hit on Drury from Glencross, I like my team but this one might have been beyond necessary. Whats with the super pest...............he was invisible tonight, not that I give a damn about Avery but a pilon would have been more effective. Update on Ward on HNIC was that he will be released in the morning that the stay over was precautionary. |
Re: NHL '09 - '10 Thread
I just happened to turn on XM radio right after the Drury hit but didn't get any details...what happened Shawn?

It's like an epidemic this season, so many more than in past years...and almost all of them are coming on clean (legal ) hits.

The report the other day on the NHL channel was currently just over 20% of nhl teams starting rosters are injured. Many of these are comming from big hits. Years ago a lot of these hits would be charging. Now a days guys are getting a 30 foot running start on these hits. You guys know my stance on it. I just dont like head hits. They are becoming way to common. I LOVE I mean LOVE, a monster hip check and just a clean shoulder to body suck the air out hit. You know the old school open ice hits that left your mouth wide open? Its a lost art these days. The guys know how to hit the head and more and more guys are getting more and more injuries. You cant argue they dont and arent when you look at the stats. Head injuries are way up. Part of the problem is the rule changes. One of the new ones needs to be removed. They either need to 1) allow some hooking again to slow players down 2) reactivate the two line pass rule 3) getting ride of that STUPID ASS Instigator Rule on fighting so teams can bring in enforecers to whoop some ass when people run guys (not a huge fan of this and dont think it will really work anyway, just hate the instigator rule) 4) Outlaw headshots all together if they want to keep the rules. Some great players have had carrers ended from headshots like Lindros and isnt tim connelly got injury issues from them? There are others also. I think its a bad sign of the current game and the lack of respect players are showing for each other. Some(mainly old schoolers) are saying bring back the enforcers/goons to teach respect, but that could result in a whole new group of issues. Either bring back a little hooking and grabbing or outlaw headshots. I guess they will just wait till something happens like the jr kid in the nhl where someone ends up a vegetable or dead. |
