If you haven't tried any of the offerings from Wild Heaven, the Ode To Mercy is a fantastic Brown ale and be on the lookout for Kennesaw's newest brewery Burnt Hickory Brewing. I should note that Terrapin is my favorite GA brewery, Wake N Bake is in my top 10 favorite beers.

Just found this post. I love SweetWater, Happy Ending is a very good beer.

If you like Malts Terrapins 10th Anniversary beer is said to be the best they've ever produced (according to the liquor store crews opinions). I didn't like it but I don't like sweet, fruity/spiced beers.

I've still got a few bottles of Jailhouse to try...wild heaven is now on the queue.

Had a Porterhouse Oyster Stout last night. It was quite interesting. Had a hint of sweetness to it and was rather light for a stout. I actually liked it quite a bit :)

Somebody tell me about saisons. Being as it is getting hot out now, they "sound" like something that might be in my wheelhouse. I picked up a Ommegang Hennepin the other day to drink this weekend. Others to try?

Saison Dupont (Dupont makes several, all good to great)
The Bruery makes a couple saisons (Saison de Lente)
Cigar City makes a couple (Guava Grove, Table Saison, Florida Cracker (wit ale, but close))

Here's a list: (many don't get distributed to FL though)

Some of my favorite Saison/Farmhouse Style Ales:

Goose Island Sofie, if you get some aged bottles the brett really shines
Boulevard Saison-Brett
Boulevard Tank 7
Jolly P Bam Biere and Weizen
Dupont, classic saison

2010 lost a bit too much barrel character for me, which is a big part in why I love KBS. 2011 and 2012 were great as always though. I think I still have another 2010 left.

2011 had the best balance for me. Yeah the 2010 had a ton of chocolate, but it seemed it lost too much of its bourbon/barrel goodness I like

Jbailey 05-05-2012 10:27 PM

Re: What beers are you enjoying II?

I still holding onto to some 2010. The last year it was made by the head brewer Sam before he left. There is something that the beer has that the last couple years are missing.

I do think the 2011 is pretty great and the 2012 is decent. Not that the 2012 is young it seems like it's missing a few pieces of a puzzle.

ChicagoWhiteSox 05-05-2012 10:33 PM

Re: What beers are you enjoying II?

You're right about 2012. It's different than the last couple years. Maybe it's the coffee or something. I didn't really like the last release of regular Breakfast Stout as much as previous years as well..

2-3 years of age is great on Yeti, I'd imagine you would really like it because the bitterness does fall off quite a bit with time.

^niicee. after this kbs talk i went to a local bar here in MA with a good selection and asked if they had any left tucked away, the bartender basically rediculed me for thinking they would have it (i know of bars that still have it in VA). while offputting, i was still happy with a nice founders breakfast stout
