for anyone using a .40 loaded with "safety ammunition" for home defense, these ballistic gel / wall test videos should be very interesting.

40S&W Glaser Blue 115gr Safety Slug penetrating Interior Wall

40S&W Federal 135gr EFMJ Versus Interior Wall (SHOT 2)

40S&W Speer 180gr Short Barrel Gold Dot versus Interior Wall

40S&W Speer 180gr Short Barrel Gold Dot, Gelatin + Interior Wall + Gelatin

Moral of the story - doesn't matter what ammo you're shooting, shot placement still matters, A LOT.

I carry Hornady Critical Defense in my .40. My fiance carries Hornady Critical Defense in her .380. I love the stuff.

I'm sure all the stuff hits hard and works good... the point is, it ALL goes through walls, even the fancy safety slug stuff. So shot placement still matters.

Don't forget the added cost of $200 for the ATF tax stamp and waiting 6-9 months for the paperwork to be processed. :sad

Re: First Firearm Thread.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with carrying the G27 or springfield xdc inside the waste? I already have an LCP for the back pocket but i have been wanting something for IWB option. I have made a chart of all the different .40s I'm looking at and the Glock 27 and xd are very close in size. The big size difference between the 27, xd and the shield is that the shield is .23" thinner. However the xd and 27 both hold 3 more rounds. Thoughts or opinions on any of the guns above?

What do you recommend for IWB carry for a 6'5" 330lbs guy... Just curious... Didn't know H&W factored into CCW carry but it makes sense... what factors does this change?
