Now is someone could tell me what the deal is with Canon Raw files in CS3 I would be eternally grateful.

What is the problem? What camera are you having the trouble with? New cameras take a little while before Adobe catches up and can process RAW files. So if they are coming from a relatively new body that may be the issue.

Yeah I was thinking mayb I can find a used body cheap-ish. I know the key is good glass or at least this point and time better glass. I have an adapter ring I attach to te 590is that allows me to add filters, but not sure about glass. Looks like I need to start a savings just for a camera.

Well on my travels I stumbled upon a very reasonably priced Tripod. Slik 212 deluxe. First "real" tripod I've owned. A whole new world of possibilities have opened up with it too. For example I took a 30 second exposure last night NO problem. Yet still sharp.

My 15 year old Granddaughter. I snapped this with my cell phone while she was in makeup for a photo shoot. One of my old freinds invited her to do a shoot for a make-up artists portfolio. She thinks she might like doing this.

Heres what a 30 Sec Exposure looks like with my "new" tripod and a 250mm zoom, which is effectively more because of the image sensor size. I am sure I could get it sharper if I used the remote control.

Mine is a mexican made "Fat-Strat" which I personally love. I play mostly acoustic Larrivee but when I have the electric itch its that Fender. Mine is nearly a decade old and boy have the prices went up.

I just got a D3000. Keep your D40. The only upgrade that you get is some with the megapixels. Outside of that the camera is pretty much the same. You do get the VR lens with the D3000 but i would hang on to the D40 for sure.

The d40 comes with the 18-55 VR as well. I have it.

Re: Photography Thread

Im currently shooting the D40X with 18-55 no VR and love it but I will soon be upgrading to the D90 because of the screw drive auto focus. my 50mm 1.8 wont AF without it.

On a long exposures camera vibration caused by triggering the shutter release isn't really an issue (assuming camera is on tripod). The amount of time the camera may be moving compared to the amount of time the shutter is open is very small and doesn't account for much of the information gathered. Camera shake is an issue more towards the half second to 1/10 second exposures.

here is a trick too, if you don't have a remote shutter release use the timer. A two second timer will give the camera a chance to stop moving due to your shutter button press and will open after that movement is gone. For the really critically still shots, use the mirror lockup function (to further reduce motion in the camera) combined with a remote shutter release or timer method mentioned above.
