Matt Hughes vs. Renzo Gracie Possible For UFC 109
Another bout has been rumored for UFC 109 which is scheduled for February 6, 2010 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. A match up featuring former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes against veteran MMA fighter Renzo Gracie. According to a report from Heavy.com both fighters have been approached about the contest, but no contracts have been signed. Matt Hughes was last in action defeating fellow former champion Matt Serra via unanimous decision last May at UFC 98. The win over Serra ended a two fight losing streak which saw Hughes lose to Georges St. Pierre and Thiago Alves, respectively. Hughes has a career MMA record of 43 wins and 7 losses, however he has only managed to go 2-3 since losing the welterweight title to St. Pierre in November 2006. Gracie was last in action in a February 2007 disqualification victory over Frank Shamrock. In his MMA career Gracie has managed a record of 13 wins, 6 losses and 1 draw. He has defeated opponents such as Pat Miletich and Carlos Newton, as well as suffered defeats to notables BJ Penn, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Dan Henderson. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- James Te Huna meets Igor Pokrajac at Australia's UFC 110 Recent UFC signee and Australian MMA veteran James Te Huna (11-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has an opponent for his octagon debut at UFC 110: Igor Pokrajac (21-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC). A source close to the event told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) the fight, which was first reported by Fighters Only on Wednesday, likely will be part of the night's preliminary card. Although not officially announced by the organization, and though UFC UK President Marshall Zelaznik today told MMAjunkie.com the show is "still in the works," UFC 110 is expected to take place Feb. 21 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. The show, headlined by Wanderlei Silva vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama, marks the UFC's debut in Australia. Te Huna, a 205-pounder who trains with PRIDE veteran Mark Hunt, enters the UFC with a five-fight win streak. The past four have come via knockout, including a first-round KO of two-time UFC fighter Anthony Perosh at an Aug. 21 CFC event in Australia. His two most recent losses came to former UFC fighter James Lee and CFC champion and Judo stand-out Hector Lombard. The loss snapped the Croatian's eight-fight win streak, and Pokrajac may now be fighting for his future in the organization. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Paul Buentello meets Stefan Struve At UFC 107 The UFC has just announced that Stefan Struve will be stepping in for the injured Todd Duffee to face MMA veteran Paul Buentello at UFC 107 on December 12th in Memphis, Tennessee. This heavyweight clash completes the 11-bout pay-per-view broadcast. Duffee was recently forced to pull out of the contest due to an undisclosed illness, and Struve gladly accepted the opportunity to face a fighter of Buentello’s caliber, especially since it’s on the televised portion of the fight card. Struve was last seen taking a first-round submission win over Chase Gormley at UFC 104 last month. It was his second straight solid victory, impressive enough that UFC brass felt it necessary to showcase the youngster on the main card…or there was nobody else available during the UFC’s hectic holiday schedule. Buentello will be ending his four-year Octagon hiatus when he enters the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. His only losses have come at the hands of former UFC champ Andrei Arlovski and current Strikeforce title holder Alistair Overeem. |

Just like I thought. Another Vera let down. Vera could have won easily if he would have done anything, like more leg kicks. He just stood there and let Randy control the fight. Same with Kang. He had Bisping beat but didn't follow up.

Lesnar is not well and his career may be in jeopardy.
From Wrestling Observer Brock Lesnar is in extremely bad shape and there are questions as to whether he will ever fight again. Lesnar, 32, is in far worse shape than he has been letting on. He went to Canada last week to try to get some rest, collapsed, and was rushed to the hospital. He has mono and also something else that he doesn't want to get out, and all we now is that he does not have cancer and he does not have AIDS. It is, however, extremely serious and he will not be fighting again for a long, long time, if he is able to fight again. Dana White is heading to Minnesota tonight and will be working to get Lesnar to the Mayo Clinic or equivalent medical facility for treatment. Also, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira has a staph infection and his fight with Cain Velasquez at UFC 108 is off. Nogueira will need an IV to hopefully get the infection out. He is also in bad shape. With Lesnar out indefinitely, Shane Carwin will be undergoing knee surgery, so he will not be available to face Velasquez at UFC 108. Dana White comments: UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has already re-scheduled his bout with Shane Carwin twice. Now it appears to be off indefinitely. At Saturday night's UFC 105 post-event press conference, UFC president Dana White said the mononucleosis that had been bothering Lesnar is still present, but the champ is now suffering a new set of illnesses, as well. "I am worried about it," White said. "I can't really talk about it right now, but [Lesnar] is in rough shape. He's in really bad shape. "I'm actually probably going to fly to go see him, and we're going to probably have to do some stuff to take care of this guy. He is not well, and he's not getting any better." White said he wasn't sure how serious the new illnesses were and whether they could be career- or even life-threatening. "I don't know," White told MMAjunkie.com (http://www.mmajunkie.com). "I've got to get him to one of these really good hospitals with really good doctors to figure out what's wrong and how we get him better." White said Lesnar collapsed while spending time on a retreat in Canada and was checked into a hospital. He went up to Canada just to get away from his house, to go up there and just kind of chill out up there. "He [expletive] dropped. He went down, and he had to go to the hospital. They ran every test on the planet on him, and they ended up finding out something else was wrong with him." White said he's not yet sure what the UFC will do regarding the heavyweight division with its champion on the shelf for an indeterminable amount of time. "If it's a long wait, we're gong to have to do something," White said. "We're going to have to – the last thing I ever want to do is strip a guy who won a title. That's the last thing I want to do. I don't know if we'll have to do an interim or what we'll do to fix it." White said there's still more questions than answers surrounding his heavyweight champion, but one thing was certain: Lesnar will be on the shelf for the foreseeable future. "He is not good," White said. "He is very, very sick, and he's going to be out for a while. "He doesn't want to talk about it publicly, but he's in bad shape. He's not well. Lesnar needs surgery, UFC boss says.
Ailing cage fighter Brock Lesnar has developed a serious intestinal disorder that requires surgery, Ultimate Fighting Championship boss Dana White told TMZ.com Monday. Lesnar, a 265 lb. former wrestler and football player, collapsed and was reportedly hospitalized last week during a vacation in Canada. On Saturday, White told various sources that Lesnar was in dire condition. "He's not well. He's not going to be getting well anytime soon," White told reporters after a UFC event in England. Despite the new diagnosis, White told the Associated Press he was still encouraging Lesnar to seek further treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort title fight targeted for UFC 109 The highly anticipated UFC middleweight title fight between current champ Anderson Silva and explosive challenger Vitor Belfort is now targeted for UFC 109. The UFC had originally hoped to feature the contest at UFC 108, but Silva's recovery process from elbow surgery forced a delay in the schedule. Belfort first released news of the new date to the Portugese-language Terra magazine's "Mano a Mano" blog, and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed with sources close to the bout that verbal agreements are in place. Bout agreements have yet to be signed. The bout is also contingent upon Silva's recovery process. The bout between Belfort and Silva has been planned since "The Phenom's" triumphant return to the UFC with a TKO win over Rich Franklin in the catchweight main event of "UFC 103: Franklin vs. Belfort." In my opinion, the UFC needs to do something to keep the HW division going. As unfortunate as it is for Carwin (him vs. Brock would be an amazing fight), they need to book Shane Carwin vs. Cain Velasquez for an interim HW Title. Their is no clear info on when Brock and Nog will return, if ever. In the meantime, you need to keep things alive in the division.

I may just be making this up in my head, but it seemed like Brown inflicted NO damge, at all, to Aldo. I've had my eye on since his fist fight in the WEC. Just watching someone in that wt class with that much power is amazing.

Sweet fights last night for the WEC. Can't say the same for the Ultimate Fighter bout but this has been a season of slouches. Can anyone actually see any of these guys being serious threats in that division? Maybe Nelson could get some victories but no one else has anymore than standard puncher's chance.

UFC 110: Nothing announced for main event yet, but Wanderlei is on the card which leads me to believe Dana will use him again for a main event. The UFC seriously needs to step it up. There is one maybe two legit Main even fights there. Over the course of 4 months I think that is pathetic. If you toss in the discussions of Coture/Coleman fight and Coture/Vera that is two more crappy fights. The mistakes the UFC has made with fighters contracts is going to bite them in the ass soon. No more Dan Henderson, and Rampage. They have let Jon Fitch rot away fighting scrub after scrub, because of his contract situation. Add that to the fact you have GSP and Brock hurt, and the UFC really doesn't have much to offer in the way of star power. Now I'm not saying having two big names makes for a great fight, but I think the term "main event" is more deserving than Forrest/Tito 2 or Coleman/Coture. :2 |

The card tonight look decent, I like all the brazilians on it. Fabricio Camoes is a Royler Gracie BJJ blackbelt and I"ve read that he fought a barenuckle fight at 17 years old with Anderson Silva that lasted over 25 minutes. He makes his UFC debut against Caol Uno (don't now why this is not on the main card). Lil Nog vs Luiz Cane might be fight of the night and Paulo Thiago could have been fighting GSP before his loss by decision. There seems to be alot Gracie trained fighters coming to UFC lately. I don't know why cause the refs and Judges are ussually anti ground game.

I just watched Kim Dong Yun's fight against Jason Tan, he looks impresive at WW. I'm actually kind of pumped for the Tito fight. From the pre fight hype show I watched earlier he seems to be fully healthy.

what the fck is with spike playing the prelims free, then again on the PPV. If i actually payed for the ppv i'd be pissed.
Also, i called that tito would lose and cry that he was injured after the fight. So sick of tito. Scrub. |

I had Forrest decision and thought it was hillarious how overnight Tito was "60%" again, He's is a whiny *****. I did pick Johnson KO. Lil' Nog took care of Cain, I couldn't call that one. Saunders was a bit surprising as well he's got some mean knees. I was figuring Amir by submission. I gotta give it to Baroni though he's tough he got his ass BEAT for 15 minutes.

Decent PPV, I thought. Tito's excuses are as lame as ever. Kos pulled the b.i. ich move of the night. He is still claiming it was the knee that hit his eye when it was obvious he blocked it with his arm. Sure it was an illegal strike but he deserved an Emmy for that. Amir looked really good against Baroni. It thought he would win by sub but he pounded the over-rated Baroni. Lil Nog looked great too.
UFC 107 is looking really good! C'mon Andy, Carano has only lost one fight (7-1) and that was to, probably, the best woman fighter in the world, Cyborg. As far as women fighters so, she is one of the best and I think could be better if she focused on MMA 100%.
