Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
It's been a solid year and a half...I wanted to resurrect this and get everyone opinions on what they are currently thinking.
If I had to pick two '98 Partagas Charlotte '98 Partagas Decada Limited Reserve No. II |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?

Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I would still say that the Oliva V is as close to perfect as I have ever had but I would also add the Perdomo2 Maduro in robusto size. Both very tasty and consistant.
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I would have to say the CoRo; it's the stick that sent me down the "Dark Side" of the slope.

Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Every single stick from my box of 08 Sig IIs has been spot on delicious.

Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I have 3: Padron 1926 #2 natural, Anejo, Opus X petite lancero (3-4 yrs old)
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
A ten year old Esplendido and an '02 Opus Fuente Fuente
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
No question about it: Cohiba Gran Reserva!
Now if you are asking about an affordable 100 point cigar, then I would go with Padron 45th Anniversary Maduro or a Padron 80th Anniversary Maduro. |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Padron 26 or Bolivar PC. Not that those are 100 point but its is as close as it has come for me....
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I haven't tried many cigars, since my local shop doesn't have EVERY brand and I usually can't afford the quantities to make buying online worthwhile, but out of the ones I've had so far, the closest I've had to perfect are the Padron 64 Maduro and the Tatuaje Havana VI. I like the Oliva V, but if I can get either of the others, I do. I also had a box of Cain Habano 550's, and out of the whole box, there were like 3 - 5 actually good ones that could've easily gotten a 98, but the rest were 90's or high 80's
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
CAO MX3 with about 6 months time on it....:dr :dr
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Only one for me was a Siglo VI.
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Never had what I would call a 100 point cigar yet.
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Padron 64 or a Fuente Hemingway(wrapper really doesn't matter, though the maduro has maybe a slight edge over the natural). I don't think its possible for there to be a bad cigar from either line.
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Had several very close to 100 point cigars:
08 Party Short Opus X Perfeccion X with a couple of years of age |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I don't believe in 100 pt (or "Perfect in every way") cigars, but the Cohiba Gran Reserva was the closest I have come....so far...

Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
first the story:in '02(my last day in cuba) poked around the lcdh for 3/4 of an hour with nothing catching my eye.just about gave in to my fallback choix(erdm grandes d espana). i then spotted 4 boxes of bolivar coronas from '98 and without a second thought got em. smoked a box in '03 '04 and '05. the last one remains sealed and deeply buried somewhere.
now the review:to this day they are still the best cigars i have ever smoked...every box was "the best cigars i have smoked"...they will remain my 100 point cigars untill someday something better comes along. derrek :hm |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I have never had a 100 point cigar and in a way hope I never do. I would want to smoke them exclusively and probably couldn't afford 'em!!!

Great year for those smokes. Hopefully by the time you break into that last box something will come along to take its place. I don't have a 100 point cigar either but as far as smokes that have consistently performed at a high level for me, it would have to be the '04 crop of VR Farmies. Those were fantastic and perfectly suited for my tastes. I can't even recall how many bundles I smoked through in '05 and '06 but it was a lot. |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
ANY Arturo Fuente Anejo
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
It is fascinating to see the wide selection here, a few that I have not tried but will one day like the 1492 and the 777 that is so highly touted by the Admiral and Nino.
As I look back I can not think of a 100 point cigar really however if you take into account the where and with whom I can easily say the '26 Belli I enjoyed with some friends in Cuzco, Peru and the '99 Lancero I had one night in Trinidad with a buddy were definately 100 point experiences. Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I had a dusty old White Owl once that was pretty amazing. Don't really know if it was the cigar, the age (older than me and that's old. Not a old as Sailor but old) or the fact that a brother here thought enough of me to give me one.
I'll never find a 100 pt cigar cuz I have the taste buds of a goat. All I know is when I fire one up and something inside makes me think, damn, that's a nice smoke! It's all good by me. |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Padron 1964 Imperial Maduro. Padron 45th Maduro is on that list as well.
I love those cigars, if I could afford it I'd smoke them everyday. Has anyone else noticed that a lot of vendors are out of various sizes of the 1964? Wonder if there is a shortage of them, or vendors just aren't stocking boxes anymore due to the high cost. |

Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I agree with Brooks that I haven't met the "100 Point Cigar" yet, and perhaps shouldn't.
But I've come close, twice, both in the last month, actually. I had the pleasure of smoking a Bolivar Petite Corona from '98, and that was really a "perfect cigar" in the sense that I couldn't have asked for anything that it didn't give me, and then some. I'm still a noob in the CC world, and have had so many bad ones that I'd really given up. But this has renewed my interest :) The second was my first Padron Anny 40th Maduro. The most expensive cigar I've ever smoked, but also one of the very best. I was expecting it to be good (love the '64 line), but this thing still managed to WOW me! Just loved the sweetness of the first third. Other "always do the trick" sticks for me are: Tatuaje Verocu East/West Coast Tatuaje Black (jar) Tatuaje Boris Liga Privada T-52 Liga Privada #9 Flying Pig PAN/PAM '64 |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I've gone through almost 3 boxes of Bolivar Legendario RE Switzerland. Consistently close to perfect. In fact, I think I'll go light one up now :tu :tu
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Well I never have had a cigar I rated the perfect 100 .. I rated the Padron 1964 Exclusivo Natural that was 10 years old a 99 out of 100. It was awesome ! Then the other cigar I rate a 99 is a Partagas 150B . And another one rated 99 would be a Opus X Perfection X that was 8 years old.
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I've smoked several of great cigars but none has been an "end all be all" to me. I don't think there would be one......everyones tastes are different.
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Until recently I had never hit the perfect 100. Several 99s... But never a 100.
My first and only 100 is the LG Diez Small Batch #3. Freakin' stellar! In a close second: LFD DL700 Maduro Third: LFD Coronado There are numerous others that deserve high ratings, but none have been as perfectly consistent as the ones listed. That or I haven't smoked enough of them to label them as 100s. I have NEVER had a single bad stick of the DL700 or coronado... and I've smoked more than a box worth of each. The LG is new to me... I picked up 3 a few days ago and it WOWed the hell out of me. Each one was perfectly consistent and stellar! |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Just had a Murcielago Rothschild this morning that was absolutely phenomenal and I would consider to be a 100 point cigar.
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I may have a slightly different opinion on the whole 100 point thing. I think a cigar hits a 100 points for me if it's a true representation of a certain flavor profile, and of course burns fairly well. I call these 'perfect cigars'. They don't have to compete with each other, be overly complex or expensive, nor be physically beautiful, just deliver the goods in the smoking department. I have a lot of these but off the top of my head:
Tat black CG and robusto Tat noella and noella reserva La Riqueza 5 and petite robusto Frank and Boris DPG blue robusto DPG black robusto DPG JJ robusto Illusione cg:4 Illusione 68 Epernay robusto Oliva v belicoso 09 V maduro Cain F robusto Monte 2's that are on... There's more, but that's a quick list... |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
never had a 100 pointer either, but the more recent cigars to come out of Cuba have been some of the best I've ever smoked.
my top 3: '08 Vegas Robaina Famosos/Familiars '08/'09 H. Upmanns (all of them) '04 Partagas Shorts It just seems like the H. Upmann marca is getting the best tasting tobacco right now, not sure why, but they taste much more rich and complex than most all other CCs I've smoked lately. |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Tough call but for me it would absolutely have to be the Davidoff 100th Anniversary Robusto in the NC world. In the CC world, hands-down, it would have to be the Dunhill Estupendo from 1984.

Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
My top two rated cigars that I've smoked to date have been:
2009 H Upmann Mag 46 Tatuaje Pork Tenderloin The H Upmann I had in DBall's BTT and it was the highest rated cigar I had. At 9.9 (or 99 if you want to rate it on the 100 point scale) it was almost perfect in every way except some very minor draw issues at the beginning of the cigar that cleared up. The Pork Tenderloin I didn't review or rate, but everything about it was amazing. From the beautiful wrapper, the perfect draw, and the amazing flavors, if I had reviewed it I'm sure I would've given it as close to if not a perfect score. Unfortunately for both of these cigars I only had the one H Upmann for the review and then I only have a 5'er of the Tenderloin :r The other cigar that is my higher-end, go-to, highly rated, and consistently enjoyable stick, is my box of VSG Sorcerers :tu I fear I'll go through these too quickly though so I only have been smoking one a month or so. |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
I consider myself lucky, being both a young cigar smoker and a newer cigar smoker I'm still looking for a good go to brand. The absolute best I have ever experienced was Liga privada 9 by drew estate.
|
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
For NC's, I'm a Fuente whore. Though I haven't had all these tat's/illusiones (I've had 2 tat's and 1 illusione) that a lot of the members seem to be listing. Maybe I need to expand a little.
But my heart (and palate) belongs to cc's. I haven't had a bad one yet. The Boli PC was outstanding. Love the Cohiba flavor profile too. Even the Quinteros are nice smokes. |
Re: Whats you 100 point cigar?
Don't know if I can properly rank cigars since I have been smoking for under two years.
My favorites by marca that rank highly with me: Cohiba: 30th Anniversario from the Jar Partagas: Dunhill Seleccion Suprema No. 150 Montecristo: Dunhill Seleccion No. 4 H. Upmann: Pre-embargo Monarcas Dunhill: Atados and Varadero ... and still searching for more :) |
