There aren't must win games, although you can argue every game is must win, don't worry as soon as there is any kind of pressure at all he'll fold like a cheap suit.

Gretzky laced them up for that didn't he? Also great seats, Neil!

Gretzky is sadly very past it. Messier is still awesome!

Re: NHL '16 - '17 Season Thread

I worked at the Marriott Long Wharf in Boston and the NHL teams used to stay there (they still might) but the first time I saw Messier he was in a suit and glasses and looked nothing like I expected, that was about 23 or years ago when he was playing for NY. Looked like some slick financial type. :lr

I felt bad watching Gretzky skate. :(

Teemu Selanne said if he skated hard for 2 weeks he could play in the NHL. I think he would look awesome to the right of Johhny Toews. :2

Re: NHL '16 - '17 Season Thread

Was a tad unfair, as Teemu is only a year out of the NHL and the some of the other blokes were in their sixties. I must say Messier has an awesome shot - top corner rockets! Not bad for an old guy....

Messier has always seemed like the kind of guy that could be in his 80s and still kick the crap out of most guys.

50/50 draw in Winnipeg yesterday totalled 400,000$ ... 200,000$ to the winner !!!

That's like 14$ on tickets from every person there !!!

Or the cost of six beers in Rogers place in Edmonton :) .

Us Winnipegers like a good garage sale, wedding "social" and fifty fifty draws.

I remember sitting at Excell Energy with a bunch of drunk Winnipegers at a Wild-Jets tilt. They were yelling out how pathetic the 50/50 total was (with some expletives) - they were removed from the arena!

The Dallas Stars injury woes continue, with Jason Spezza dealing with something, now. This is incredible. Six forwards and a few defensemen sprinkled in. Ugh.

Getting Huddler and Hemsky back tonight, I think.

Ha! Yeah, our fifty fifties are good when the get to around 10k. Probably cuz our tickets are so overpriced.

So the 50/50 for y'all are automatic and come off part of the ticket price? Here you have to buy (at baseball games in SD anyway) 50/50 tickets that they print out like a lottery ticket in the stands, you get like 3 draws for 5 bucks or something and half the money goes to charity and half to the winner.

It's the same here. I was just being a smart ass about our crappy ticket prices.

Nope - pretty much everyone buys tickets for the 50-50. 10 for $20....

Subban's little brother is not the answer. It seem odd Rask has been out of the net a lot lately, well you know not playing games, when he is in the game he's out of the net a lot as well :D

In a game a few nights ago, Rask looked really, really uncomfortable every time he had to slide to the left. I think he's hurting a lot more than the B's are letting on.
Subban's definitely not the answer. As weak as the D has been, if they have persistent problems in the net then they're up the creek.

Nice come from behind win for the Flyers last night. I was switching back and forth between it and the World Series. It was 3-1 after the 14:00 break, switched over to baseball. Came back minutes later and they were reviewing the game-tying goal. :tu

Oilers are making it fun to watch hockey again .

Cautiously optimistic ... it would be nice to make the playoffs ... western conference final ??? Not likely .

Happy to see some d-fence playing competently ... Klef/larsson make me happy and nurse is growing up into a facsimile of pronger ( he has learned how to start skating it out in order to open up passing lanes ) .

Lucic thinks he is a playa now ... pffft ... got demoted to the 3rd line for thinking he should play instead of beating the sh!t out of kadre .

Overall ... like I said ... it is fun to watch hockey again .

I watch the Oilers whenever they are on and the Hawks aren't, Derrek, love watching McDavid , Nurse, Eberle and the rest of the kids.

Artem Anisimov leads the NHL in scoring. Wow. That is all.

No 2 behind the Hawks, but have played one more game than anyone.
As usual a previous losing streak hurting them.

Great play by the youngsters though - half the forwards are AHL call-ups!

The Stars have now lost 9 straight overtime games.

Slowly, but surely, we are starting to get a player or two back from injury. We may not have to play defensemen on offense.

For now it is 2U's 2K's 2 points. At the end of the year it will be 2U's 2K's 2 bad.

Regardless I will still root for the Bruins.
