Re: Mets Banter 2015...
The Mets sweep the Braves to win their 11th straight game!
Bring on the Yankees! |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
11 in a row...LOVE IT!!! :wo :wo
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
So, guess we're not gonna go 159-3. :r :r :r
deGrom looked like stir fried dogsh*t this evening. Nothing but fastballs against left handers in that little league field they call Yankee Stadium (314 down the left field line). What did he think was gonna happen? On a positive note...didn't lose anything in the standings...Braves lost too. :D |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
It's the right field line, brother, and it apparently is only 314 in the bottom of the inning. I have come to that conclusion after years and years of hearing opponents whine about The Babe's Short Porch, and so assume it must grow to around 380 when the visitors are up. :r
But look at the bright side. Mets started another streak tonight. :D |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
You're absolutely correct Thomas...meant to say right field line, not left. I'll take 13-4 any day of the week. With the injuries, I thought we'd be 4-13.
And hats off to Pineda..he threw a gem tonight. |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Yeah, my guys have been getting some good pitching lately. And I'm with you on records too, now that the Bombers are getting a few hits also. Plus somehow "knock-knock" our old men aren't on the DL yet.

And we turn the tables today with an 8-2 win. Harvey pitched a gem. And Collins should NEVER had him out there for the 9th...no matter what Harvey told him. Rubber game tomorrow. :D

Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Let's Go Mets!
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Mets are giving this one away tonight. :bh :bh
Oh yeah....Beltran SUCKS!!! :D |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
They haven't given it away yet. They still need to kick the ball around the infield 6 or 8 more times.
Yeah, Carlos sucks. But according to a story I just saw yesterday, he was the 4th best hitter the Mets ever had. :r |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
OK, it's over now. Guess 4 errors were enough. Oh, and just to show I wasn't making sh!t up, here's that Beltran story.

Have dropped three in a row. That's two straight games that deGrom has gotten LIT UP.

Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Mets fall out of first place...it was inevitable. I don't think we've had a starting pitcher record a win in over a week. The offense has been exposed. Hey Alderson..how about going out and getting some bats???? You can't consistently win ballgames only scoring 1.4 runs.
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
They've still exceeded my expectations for the season so far. It's early and there's a ton of baseball left. I'm not looking for a first place finish in the division, but a wildcard would be nice.
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
degrom pitched a GEM this afternoon...and two HRs from Duda didn't hurt.
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Mets can't seem to get out of their own way this past week.
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Yanks are totally getting in their own way, Mac. :r
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Phillies series couldn't have come at a better time. :D

Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Mets lose two in a row to the Marlins...WTF????
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Thank GOD the Mets won today.

I'm having a wonderful morning.
The Mets getting no-hit last night has nothing to do with it, I swear! :D Thankfully, the Yanks took care of the Nats. Mac gets to hold onto his precious .5 game lead, and first place, one day longer. |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Has it really come to this?
There is now a Go Fund Me page to get the Mets a bat. http://www.gofundme.com/zxxtpg The unwillingness of the front office to spend money baffles me. They needed a bat when David Wright had his press conference with no answers. Now they need two. How are they trying to fill those holes? From an ESPN writers twitter: A MLB exec on #Mets: "They want a middle of the order OF bat who isn't going to cost anything -- in terms of dollars or players.'' Good luck with that. #Mets |

Re: Mets Banter 2015...
It is sad that the loyal devoted Met fans feel they need to address the hitting problems of their team, which the owner seems to ignore. It is sadder that they believe a "mere" $3 million will procure a batter of sufficient impact to significantly address this issue. It is saddest of all that, as of the last time I checked, the project has raised pledges of only 750 bucks.

Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Mets acquire 36 yr old 3B Juan Uribe and OF Kelly Johnson from the Braves. That sounds promising :r Stuff like that makes it hard to root for the Mets.

Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Re the trade, I am always torn when it comes to swapping young arms for old bats. True, you might be selling the future away for the chance that the pieces you get today have enough gas left to get you over the hill. Yet though those 20+ pitchers, who may or may not develop into 20+ winners, could also throw their very last baseball with their very next pitch. Arms are fragile. Bats can be swung by old men with lame shanks.

Granted, while neither player is going to put the team on it's back and carry them into the playoffs, both players are true Major Leaguers, and are upgrades over what the Mets currently have. Mets still need a bat, and if that bat winds up in the infield, their bench just got a whole lot deeper. Plus, the upgrade didn't cost you anything talent wise. A good day for the Mets, IMO.......Well, except for the 7-2 loss last night. :D |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
Familia blew a masterful start by deGrom, but Uribe wins it in the 10th with a walk off.
|
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
So far Uribe and Johnson have paid off for their new team.

Poor Wilmer! |
Re: Mets Banter 2015...
The media needs to leave Wilmer alone. He's been with the organization since he was 16. I'll bet he hasn't really seen his biological family much since then and considers the Mets is family. I was almost in tears myself when all of this was going on during the game.

Re: Mets Banter 2015...
I'm taking full credit for bringing Cespedes to the Mets. He wanted to join me in Queens for the rest of the season.
