I figured it'd be good for pounding nails. Plus it'd be a great gun for my wife and daughter to learn on. Move up from those .22's up to 9mm and not have to worry about the jump. It'd give them some confidence before going to a little .380 or a little 9.

At $600 new, I think they're a bit high. I'd think I could get a second-hand hardly used for 400 bucks.
Or 10 bucks for one that's been in action and racks itself. :lr

Or get the Taurus counter part PT 99 or PT 92 just as reliable only difference is where the safety is and about 2/3 the cost of the Baretta.

Bah. No likey.
I looked at prices, and for all the more I'd save, I'd much rather get what I know I'd like. Actually it's the M9A1 I want.
Mainly because it'll go on my leg and I can triple wield.
Then I'll just need to get a couple of those James Bond guns you flick out of your sleeves and I'll be set. :tu

A couple of years ago that's what my son wanted and I tried to convince him to get a 1911 in 45 caliber. He got the M9 and loves it and I gotta say it is the sweetest shooting gun we have. Sweet.

I understand that the contract for the m9a3 got shot down.
Will they still build the gun for regular folk?

Got a chance for a 1911 at what seems like a decent price. It's a build based on an Essex frame. Anyone here have personal experience with an Essex build?

Re: First Firearms II

Is everyone in your area freaking out about the M855 ban too? People around here(Omaha) are buying up all the AR15 ammo they can get their hands on. I was at Cabelas today and people were clearing the shelves of anything that could be put into an AR. 223, 556, steel case, tracer rounds, anything they could get their hands on. The gun guy I spoke to said that they had 223 in 300 round packs go on sale yesterday and that every Cabelas in the country sold out in less than 8 hours.

Re: First Firearms II

not to worried my self. I have a 420 round ammo can of lake city M855 I might let go when the time is rite. I'm just happy I have a sks to play with and 7.62 ammo is cheap. Now Barns 300wm tsx and GP 7.5 Swiss are what I'm trying to find for a decent price...

If I had another section of rail I could mount my anodized billet tactical back scratcher. Perhaps I should just start an A2 build for more real estate..

Picked up a rail extension for my FN. Need to order some 1.5 high rings so I can get the optics mounted. Fun little rifle to shoot.

Ammo is gonna calm back down after a while, but you might as well stock up anyways. 'They' are going to try the ban again...As for me I have at least 1000 rds. for every AR I own, now it's time to go 308..:)

Very nice! Lots of fun times ahead there. I make my kids use the full wooden stock so they will appreciate it a little more when they get a nice kevlar or modular stock.

Wife just gave me permission to start my build on a blackout 300. Lots of interesting options for me to explore now!:noon

That made me smile, Michael.
I can remember my first turkey shoot, I was 7 or 8.
They gave me a .410. Not a problem. Then they gave me the 20 gauge. Not a problem.
I was listening careful to all the numbers and paying attention to the ammo, thought it was odd the .410 felt like the 20 gauge and was getting pretty cocky.
And sloppy.
So the old man handed me the 12 gauge which promptly jacked me in the shoulder, rattled my teeth and sat me on my ass.
Fixed the cocky and sloppy IMMEDIATELY. :lr :lr

Oooooooo..."Tactical"
3.5 lb. single stage seems more of a target trigger than a tactical assault trigger to me. Maybe sharpshooting is the tactic.
I'd like to get something like that for my Colt 20" HBAR. I think it has large pins. I know the receiver pins are different.

emopunker2004 03-21-2015 09:33 AM

Re: First Firearms II

typically target guns use a 2 stage trigger. they make them for large pins too

8zeros 03-21-2015 11:55 AM

Re: First Firearms II

Not so much the single stage but the 3.5 lbs seems a little light to me. A little easy to set off. I have a Rem 700 7mm with a trigger like that and you just take up a little slack then think about the next bit a little too much and it shoots. It's easy too get used to and I like it much better than the squishy triggers on my ARs. I've never used it for hunting, I like my old 30-06 better for that. The 7mm is great for shooting stuff at the quarry at around 300 yds.

dijit 03-21-2015 01:25 PM

Re: First Firearms II

Its been my experience once you are used to that lighter pull it really does become more of a thought process to shoot and is easier to be more accurate.

emopunker2004 03-21-2015 07:31 PM

Re: First Firearms II

its not excessively light. its just right to me.

Re: First Firearms II

As you can see by my post count I'm more of a reader , but I'd figured I'd contribute..Reorganizing the safe so I set aside the .223/5.56's to show you guys. From Left to Right:

DDMK18
IWI Tavor w/aimpoint PRO and vortex magnifier
SWMP15 Magpul Edition with 4X32 Acog, and Leupold Deltapoint on the offset, can is a M42000

Up top is a colt lower with a 10.3" LH upper, and a DD RIS II rail (yes I know I'm retarded, but shooting a RH rifle suppressed sucks as a LH'er )
