I am very fortunate. My wife smokes cigars and has two humidors of her own! Also both of my kids smoke cigars.

My wife does not hate it but she does not love it either. She was the one who suggested I pick up some cigars for a golfing vacation we took many years ago. Before that, I only smoked at golf tournaments when the vendors provided the cigars. Sometimes she regrets that suggestion :)

On the other hand she gets to buy shoes (or purses) when I buy cigars, so she has no probloem with my purchases

She hates everything about it but tolerates it since I could have so many vices that are waaaaaaay worse :D

It depends on her mood at the time. She has many and I just hope I smoke one on a good mood day.

My GF doesn't mind. Only after I have smoked in the apartment and didn't air it out enough. She always tells me more cigars!! I always tell her more Shoes!! It's a nice trade off.

No Wife or Steady Girlfriend at the moment, but most of the women
I've dated didn't have a problem with it. The few that did didn't stick
around for long.

I'm surprised I'm really the first one to say "Option #4" here!

There is no SO, therefore there is no complaining, and any money otherwise spent on said woman can instead be spent on more cigars :)

Re: Cigars and your Significant Other

The wifey calls me a cigar snob. It's my ADD nature to know/research/etc. all I can about something I like or want to get into. She doesn't seem to care either way. She'll hang out with me while I'm smoking. She doesn't like my clothes after a good, long herf - heck I don't either. She's not a big fan of the stinky garage after we have a men's meeting, but she's very tolerant and I try to be thoughtful and respectful. She probably would wish I saved the money instead of spending it, but I'd find something else to spend it on. I'll definitely keep her!

Shhh, what Cigars? oh that smell?
I think that's from the train.
Wait, I wasn't even on the train today.
It must be the smell in the car. or maybe the guy I stood next too, what ever. What else is news. How was your day?

I usually get my wife a Java or a Kuba Kuba. The conversation goes something like this:

Her: "Did you go to the cigar shop today?"
Me: "Yes"
Her: *Angry Face* "How much did you spend?"
Me: "I got you a Java Mint toro"
Her: "Aww thank you!"
Me: "What's for dinner?"

I met my wife while I was working in a cigar store. Over the years we've spent many good times in different cigar stores and events. Her taste in cigars leans deep into the full-bodied arena, mostly sub 46 ring. Can't ask for anything better!

My wife is extremely supportive. She enjoys that I have a hobby, and as long as I remain fiscally responsible, she's absolutely fine with it. She enjoys the smell, and we often spend evenings sitting out on the patio, chatting while I smoke.

Those are probably the best types of stories so far in this thread.

Maybe one day I'll find a woman who will purchase me a box of cigars. And a case of beer. And some single malt.

Re: Cigars and your Significant Other

my wife supports the hobby in strange ways.

- she hates the smell
- she will smoke one with me now and again
- she hates the multitude of humidors
- she hates the money i spend
- she likes that it relaxes me
- she will go to the cigar shop with me now and again
- she will never buy me anything related to cigars
- she went to Nicaragua with me to tour factories.
- she never wants to talk about cigars.

so does she support me?
yes

and no.

she loves you enough to try and understand what cigar smoking means to you.. she knows you like cigars so she goes with you to the shop..trying to make you happy.. but she doesn't want to contribute to it as in purchasing any.. she went to nicaragua because that would make you happy.. it is confusing..but at least she doesn't say stop!! no more smoking...

Well let me explain a little better. My wife doesn't hate cigars, she hates the smell afterwards, she hates the health concerns that tobacco is known for, she hates the money that is sucked up by the lifestyle (It's not a hobby), she doesn't understand how I can meet somebody online and become friends, she thinks a 20 count humidor is plenty big... but she does understand how inportant cigars are to me and she sees how it relaxes me and she is understanding due to these things.
She is a great wife, I wouldn't trade her for the world (Not even for all of Dballs cigars).

I agree, my wife is pretty much the same. She is happy that I have met people (online & off) and I have something to focus on. She gets mad at money spent but she deals :D

Grace bought me my first cabinet humidor then was shocked(!) when it filled up. :)

I wouldn't say she loves the hobby, but she's tremendously supportive of my "guy time". It doesn't hurt that Moe plies her with cannolis.

Very occasionally she'll sit on the deck with me smoking one her flavored cigars. I don't think she actually likes the cigar as much as she enjoys the bonding over a shared moment.

And she's the bestest herf hostess I could ask for. :)
