Re: Game of Thrones

I like the show, so far. But I'm really confused by the time line. Stark and Baratheon left for what seemed like a long trip, but were back in no time to resolve the fight between the prince and Stark's daughter. Plus, didn't Stark's wife leave to deliver him a message about a possible assassination attempt? Where was she during the little trial scene?

And Stark's wife said that she was praying for 30 days for her son, yet it seemed like he was only out for a few days.....

I predict that the Queen is an evil plant of some sort and she was behind the assassination. She's creepy.

So, confused....... Didn't help that the last few minutes of the first episode were somehow cut out of my recording.

I need to read the books.

Ned Stark's daughter's traveled back with the King and Ned, as far as I understand it.

Re: Game of Thrones

Remember when the King was talking to Ned about being the new 'Hand to The King'? He made a comment about him having a son and Ned having a daughter. Prince Joffrey and Sansa Stark at this point are set to be married. Which would be why she left her home with Ned with the King.

Aaaaaaaaa...... Got it. It was weird cuz when he killed the wolf, it seemed like he was right outside his son's window.

Well, that makes more sense. Thanks.

That whole story line was wicked! I can't believe it. And then 'the hound' killed the butchers boy! Geez, that little Prince is a fcuker for starting the drama!

I foresee great things from this series. Dragons, giant wolves, weird forest people...... this is gonna be cool.

Watched the first two episodes. Probably not going to read the book.

First episode got my attention real quick.

Second episode was a little hohum but still pretty good.

My favorite Character so far, King Robert Baratheon tied with Tyrion Lannister

Second favorite - Daenerys Targaryen :D.

There's a lot to build up to.
Tyrion is also one of my favorites and amazingly The Hound as well.

Tyrion is definitely the best character out of the whole series. Arya is a favorite as well, though she's obviously not gotten much development yet in the show. The Hound is a bastard, but he grows on you.

Watched 2nd episode last night and can't wait for tonights. Never read the books but I can tell this series will really spark my interest.

blugill 05-01-2011 08:25 PM

Re: Game of Thrones

I'm glad Peter Dinklage snagged such a good role with Tyrion! He's a solid actor and what a great character!

The intrigue begins now that Ned has arrived at King's Landing!

It took me a while to figure out who was playing Jeor Mormont at Castle Black. I knew I knew his face but couldn't place the series! He was in Sons of Anarchy as the priest in the last season!

I think it definitely lacked something. Haven't exactly put my finger on it though. Episode 2 was really good so maybe I just raised my standards after seeing that. I bet they will rebound with episode 4 though. It's not like every episode can be awesome.

The boobie quotient was way down -- maybe that was it.

I saw this episode as a "set the scene" type of thing. Went back and re-watched the interchange between Ned and that smarmy sister-fokking prince in the throne room. (God, I love HBO Go on my iPad!) I hope Ned bashes that dude's dome in at some point down the road.

That may have been what I was looking for. Naturally the "boobie quotient" was down because the episode only had like 5 minutes of the dathraki (sp?) storyline. I think that storyline is more interesting anyway.

What about the scene with the Queen and Prince Joffrey. That was sickening. I can already tell there is gonna be some crazy stuff started from these two. Heck that sick bicth might even start having s3x with the Prince. Would that be much of a surprise?

I'm not going to touch that....

But the show as a whole was good. Sure it wasn't as climatic as the first two episodes, but the table needs to be set for things that are coming.

I never read the books, and I hope there's no spoilers in this thread, but it wouldn't surprise if the prince is the offspring from brother and sister. They're a pretty F'd up family. As for episode 3, I thought it was ok, it sets up alot of things for only the third episode.

blugill 05-05-2011 05:21 AM

Re: Game of Thrones

There's tons of stuff yet to happen. This series is following the book sometimes as close as line by line. Martin does lots of stage setting for future events, it'll have pay off episodes and set up episodes.

The Dothraki are a very good storyline and become more important as things progress in the series.

Re: Game of Thrones

yeah, i was told by one of my buddies who has read the books, that episode was a good springboard episode. says that he expects BIG things in epi 4.

ahc4353 05-08-2011 08:59 AM

Re: Game of Thrones

Well, I watched all three episodes (twice) so I think I'm caught up. Looking forward to #4.

My favorite part so far is after Ned gets asked to be The Hand of The King and his wife is telling him he has a choice of accepting. To a man like Ned, his only choice is to accept, no questions, no hesitation. It's how he's made, it's what he believes in.

I like Ned.

Daenerys Targaryen. Think her brother is pissed? I love a hot girl with spunk.

Re: Game of Thrones

I just watched epi 4 last night. To me another set up show. I know that epi 5 aired last night. The previews looked awesome.

Vinerys Targaryen is a scumbag! I can't for his sister to cut off his hands or something. haha

And oh wow, has Tyrion got himself in a mess of trouble. That scene where Lady Cateline calls upon allies of her father to 'apprehend' Tyrion! That gave me goosebumps.

Can someone help me out here? If the answer to the question will be a spoiler or sorts for furture episodes, then please don't tell me.

Who were the two men talking in the dungeon? The two men Arya overheard talking about killing Ned and something about a rebellion.

Is one of them Lord Varys? Not sure on the spelling, but the Lord in the consel that is the messenger of sorts, the one that's bald.

I agree James. I did not see that coming at all. I fell for it. I thought Drogo was going to give him what he wanted (in time of course). Crazy. This show is really great. I can only imagine how the book is.

I'm really amazed that A Clash of Kings is actually better than A Game of Thrones book wise!
I'm having a hard time not reading it during the day at work, sneaking a page now and then on my iphone kindle app. I'm going to get in trouble but I can't help it!

is anyone using hbogo.com?

apparently hbo subcribers can go to that site after an episode on Sunday night and watch the next episode. For instance some people have already watched episode 7. and apparently there is a pretty steamy lesbian sex scene.
