Thanx bro, its such a bummer. Verizon is pretty much the ONLY company that has decent reception in my area but unfortunately their phone selection is laughable and I absolutely despise the way they lock down their phones.

Sadness for the X man :(

i hear ya, hopefully my free storm shows up in the next few days and i will be able to give an opinion of it. i generally stick to PDA's on our system as they are usually the least controlled by VZW. soon it won't matter though as they will be doing any compatible device on our system.

How did you manage a free Storm?

i test devices for the customer council. we give feedback to VZW and are a small selected group by VZW itself.

http://vzwcustomercouncil.com

you probably won't be able to see much on that page though. it's top secret ;)

sounds like a cool way to get your hands on the latest phones lol

Re: Blackberry Storm

LOL well sign me up for the council bro LOL.

Yeah it does suck as I've wanted an Iphone badly since they came out. And even more so when I went to the SoCal HERF and played with everyone's Iphone and realized how inferior my own device was.

I used to work at RIM and still have many friends that work there. I've used the Storm and have a Bold right now. I like the large screen and slick interface of the storm, but I type often and fast with my Blackberry, and the storms screen just doesn't allow of the kind of email volume I have. I typically type about 50-100 emails a day from my BB and I found the click screen difficult to type on at speed. Better than an iPhone, but not the same as a dedicated keyboard.

Bottom line, if I didn't type lots of email I'd get the Storm. The screen is sexy and interface slick, but because I'm an email fiend, I need a keyboard and the Bold works great.

Keep me posted too please! I've had a Treo 700p (actually my 2nd) after going through 4 sh!tty Treo 650p's, all in a 2-year span. So many problems with the Treo but I like the funcionality a lot so I've stayed with it. My current 700p is 'okay' but it often sticks & I have to wait for long period of times to get it to unfreeze (happens a lot when texting, I've noticed).

I'm with Dustin (LasciviousXXX)....VZ coverage is great near me and I abhore AT&T. I almost pulled the trigger on the Blackberry Pearl but have heard mixed reviews.

And I too wanted an iPhone but I hear there are some things about it (like the inability to cut & paste) that would drive me nuts.

So, I'd love to find out how the Storm stacks up against the iPhone....

word, that's what i've been telling most people but the majority will sacrifice speed for the "coolness" factor. i'm pretty quick with my pearl keypad. faster than most with a full one.

Yeah I agree... the cool points are high on the storm and that is the reason I am sold! :D

I love/hate my pearl right now... I am damn fast typing on it, but I absolutely hate the damn trackball that always has issues... that is the main reason I want a storm... no more damn ball to get ruined and not work right...

strange but i've never had any issues with my pearl. it was a pre-release one though so maybe i got lucky.

I love my Curve and have been thinking about the Storm but I type with my nails and the touch screen is hard for me to use. Tried the Iphone and it didn't work for me. Now do I cut my nails just to get a new phone??

with the click technology you might not have too. my advice is wait for it to come out and get to a store to play with it.

Maybe... I have to keep taking mine apart and get all the lint out of it... the trackball is a bit small for the socket that it sits in and collects lots of dust... this builds up and stops it from working... right now it doesn't track up or right... so It needs to be cleaned again, but I just don't care anymore since I am leaving Tmo and that gay gay pearl come friday! :ss

I have patience... I have wanted to shatter this pearl against the wall for at least a year... and I have been waiting for Tmo to get their head out of their ass and get the 3G network rolling...

Now I will wait just a tad longer for a Verizon Storm lol... I am switching carriers and getting a sweet phone... for that I can definitely wait! :D:D

LOL... I bet it will be quite a long time till they come out with the iphone on VZW... I have also heard it was a 5 year deal which would mean we are in year 2 of that deal... of course if they unlock them, then all bets are off... :D

As long as they are $149 or less, I will sign with Verizon, ditch tmobile and have a new storm to play with! :D

Yeah, Vodafone are giving it away free on a £35/month contract... for 2 years, or a minimum of £40/month over 18 months.... so that's a minimum commitment of.... £840 over 2 years or £760 over 18 months. And that gives you 600 minutes and unlimited texts.

Ouch is right... damn... they ripped it apart. I think future patches will fix most of the problems that they are talking about so I'm not too worried about that... and overall I think this phone should still be fun to use... might have to swing by a Verizon store tomorrow and play with one...

There is a list of reviews on this site: http://crackberry.com/verizon-blackb...review-roundup

From reading only my perception is the software is crapola. Add a few patches and things might be substantially better.

Any impressions yet Jeremy?

it's taking them forever to activate my dealer line on it. they said monday because of all the stupid orders waiting in que. we get the shaft and you guys get it done instantly.

i've had the chance to play with a few, it's a really neat media player. i think i will miss the speed typing of my pearl though. we shall see.

Interesting. My friend was in Miami, using his Blackberry Pearl on verizon network and had 4 dropped calls! He switched immediately to AT&T with his new I-Phone and had no further problems.

I am betting that it is that crappy gay pearl and not Verizon... I am not saying it couldn't have happened on Verizon's network... but I am saying that the pearl is the biggest piece of ever loving crap!!! I have one and I get dropped calls constantly in areas with Tmobile that I shouldn't be getting dropped...

I think it all depends on you location. I have had a Pearl for over a year now on the Verizon network and have had no problems at all.
