I appear to have misunderstood the question...
Baseball caps were not meant to be worn backwards.... Shade your face not you ego. |

Re: Poll About Baseball Caps
Credibility? Sort of. I let anyone get the first 10 words out of their mouth before I think they are really stupid or not credible just because of a hat.
But to be honest I agree with George Carlin: Quote:

The person that presents themselves this way in a business situation has become too relaxed and doesn't give a second thought to a more professional appearance. The person that interprets this casualness as something other than that and makes a personality or character judgement based on that has bowed to stereotypical judgement. It is sad, but that is the world today. Yes, you may miss some great people. But, you may also eliminate some real Hoosiers (no offense David and Jeff) and save some time. |

And if you take the time to re-read the OP, it asks does the backwards cap affect credibility. It doesn't ask if you dismiss someone's credibility because of it. |
Re: Poll About Baseball Caps
I frequently wear hats, and am pretty old school about them. Remove your hat when you walk indoors, no hats indoors. Remove your hat during the National Anthem, or when the flag passes you at a parade. No backwards hats.

Re: Poll About Baseball Caps
I don't look at it as if the guy has his hat on backwards - I just figure the bozo's head's on backwards, so it ain't no thing. As for doing business with him, I'm as likely to do so as I would with any other person who obviously does not have their head on straight.

I'll tell you what...I am more comfortable in a ballcap (the small percentage of the time I ever wear one) worn backwards.
If anyone thinks I am not credible, or not intelligent because of it, that is your right. Just don't be offended when I think you are shallow and suggest you take the stick out of your a$$. :r |
Re: Poll About Baseball Caps
In a work setting: a backwards ball cap (or any ball cap for that matter) probably shouldn't get past the receptionist. Any other time when wearing a hat is appropriate, it doesn't matter to me (well, I guess it might look silly at the golf course). I only wear them to keep the sun off, so the backwards thing doesn't really work for me personally--I think it makes my head look even funnier.

All this makes me recall a thought I've had before. Someday soon, some doctor's gonna prep for Granny's gallbladder operation, pull up her gown, see some odd-looking bruise and stretch out her 83-year-old skin to get a better look, then wonder what a tattoo saying "Whitesnake Rules" means. :r |

In my short time I've learned to pay more attention to peoples words and even more importantly their actions rather than their attire.

The whole backwards hat thing doesn't bother me at all. The backwards crooked thing, that's goofy. It doesn't "bother me" so much as I think it just plain looks stupid. Never really gave it any thought till now. The pants thing bugs me, and I tell kids to pull their pants up all the time. Once again, it's just stupid. I tell kids to get a haircut all the time, too. Can't stand to see a young man flicking the hair out of his eyes like a girl. The hair flicking thing, I gotta admit, bothers me. :) |

No offense to anyone, but my biggest problem with baseball caps is the straight bill. I just can't stand it. How anyone can wear the bill of their cap completely straight is beyond me, but to each their own. I have to have my bill bent in a U-shape. |
Re: Poll About Baseball Caps

Re: Poll About Baseball Caps
Around home most hats advertise tractors, trucks, or seed. In the fall the Ohio State caps will come out. When welding most wear a Kromer of the brightest loudest fabric they can find with a floppy bill and yes it is turned backward. otherwise unless riding something open such as a bike four wheeler or jeep a cap is worn traditonaly with a grease spot where the thumb and finger adjust the cap. gotta love a farming comunity. and the bill is bent and curved by the user for comfort. My everyday at work cap is hard yellow plastic with stickers and safety goggles.

I wear hats all the time and most of those times they are backwards. I only do it because I am so damn cool:cool2:
I wouldn't walk in to a job interview wearing one but that's the way I like to wear them. If I lose credibility because of it.....Oh well, I might shed a single tear;) |
Re: Poll About Baseball Caps
I thought about it. I just don't care. Let's break it down based on my credibility meter:
Baseball Cap = +0 Backwards Baseball Cap = +0 Pants Down to Your Knees = -1 (safety issue) Iggy Pop T-shirt = +1 Guitar Pick Necklace = +0 unless you're over 40 then -1 Misfits T-Shirt = +2 Ace Frehley Belt Buckle = +1 Cowboy Boots in the City = -1 Short Skirt = +3 on a woman/ -4 on a man Blazer w/Leather Patches on the Elbows = -2 Blazer w/Leather Patches on the Elbows Worn w/Ramones T-Shirt = +2 Comb Over = -3 BeDazzled Denim Jacket = -3 Keep on Truckin' DayGlo T-Shirt = +4 MCS |

If I were smarter, I'd wear a helmet, but quite often ride my motorcycle with a ballcap on backwards so I can wear it when I get where I'm going, I can cover my blown out hair.
After re-reading my own post, I am thinking maybe people who wear their hats backwards might not have common sense.:D |
