That little pipe is cool as sh!t. For my part, I'm prefer partial rustication with a lighter stain, thanx to a pipe I got from RX2010. Thanks again bro! :tu

The only problem I can forsee, is that the carver is in Europe which would give us very little control in the way of problems or whatever, and shipping from Europe...also, iirc, I've seen a picture of a Mario Grandi that was done for a club or forum, and I don't think he embosses the name of the organization in the wood of the shank, but paints it on...wouldn't we be better off with an American carver? I'm sure there are several that would work with us...

there are plenty of great carvers in the US, but most can't do a nice sized pipe with good quality for <100 bucks

Personally, I would prefer a tinsky or something along those lines for 150-200 as this will likely be the only pipe I buy this year, but most don't want to pay that much (understandably)

I would love to do a higher end pipe as it will be my only pipe this year too..

Re: Do we want a 2010 CA pipe?

if you guys want to keep it american, here's Tinsky's page with his normal shapes and prices per finish. http://ssl.cybersun.com/scripts/webc...57757~1~103002

so we could try to just do one of his shapes and you could pick your own finish or something along those lines. I really like the bulldog on the first page

just an idea

edit - I like the canadian too

Some decent shapes there. #11 looks cool as does #3. I'd be willing to bet if we ordered enough pipes, there might be a chance to get a discount.

Kirk Bosi could probably get it done for a shade under 200 as well, he did a nice pipe for IPC a couple years ago

I donīt think I'll be interested, but consider this pipe carver, from South Africa:

Anything except a balkan/english...not too fond of massive quantities of latakia, although GLP Odyssey and GLP Raven's Wing are favorites...how about a VA blend or Va/Per?

Re: Do we want a 2010 CA pipe?

I would agree on a 2010 CA pipe as long as we keep the work here in the USA (Boswell's come to mind), and would like to throw in the following idea:

A slightly bend Billiard, 6" length and bowl height around 2.25". Possibly the bowl could be 1/3 rusticated on the sides (for those who enjoy rustication)...:2

This Tanblast was done by Mark Tinsky for me a few months ago. A shade over 6 inches long, 2 inches tall, 1-1/2 inch dia with Amber stem. $185.00,
shipped. Enough of them and you may be able to get them 15 or 20 dollars cheaper.

I really like that shape but not so much the Tanblast finish. Maybe something in a partially rusticated deep coral? That being said, though, I don't know if I could afford to do one this year, so my opinion shouldn't affect what everyone does.

So any headway on the annual pipe? I love mine from last year and would love to get one for this year.

Nice pipe there. Yea I've been looking at a lot of those smaller nose warmer style pipes. I was very close to picking up the smaller bulldog style pipe.
