It sounds like you need a better grade of humidor that doesn't leak like a sieve. Or get to work on it and make it airtight and do away with the hydra.

When it takes a huge amount of effort to keep a humidor at the RH you want, it almost always suggests there's a big problem with leaks.

It actually was holding pretty well with the Hydra. It all started with the Hydra suddenly wouldnt run like it was out of calibration. I finally had to turn it up to 86% to get it to turn on. About 10 days ago it all of a sudden started running full tilt. I took the Hydra out and used only the evaporators that came with the Humi. The humidity actually didnt start to really come down till I removed those on Monday. Now I am down to about 75 and I will check again if I ever get home tonight. Just as a test last night I set the Hydra back in the old humi and set at 75% and the Hygrometer reading 72% in 4 hours it did not shut off even with me turning it down to under 70%. When I unplugged it the hygrometer read 81% its only a 100 count humi.

As for the new Humi over the weekend I am going to reseal the glass with aquarium silicone just to be sure, but the lid and the front door swelled nicely with seasoning and seem to seal pretty good.

Curious as to where you've learned that.

My buddy has been through a couple. All died around 2-3 years. All the long term reviews I have read on them reflect the same.

Dijit. Do you have a hygrometer besides the hydra?

Just wanted to say thanks to those that offered help and advice on my humi. It is slowly balancing out and my smokes appear to be safe for now. By the way know anyone that wants a used psychotic hydra humidifier? CHEAP!

Catastrophic humidor failure! The front door on my Humidor has warped beyond its ability to stay closed. I guess I am lucky I kept my old 100 count as I have managed to squeeze 115 sticks into it until I can find the funds to upgrade to the Cuban foot lock from Cheap humidors.

Get a cooler and forget about it, I have one and 3 desktops and the cooler hands down is the best at keeping steady humidity maintenance free (with HCM Beads) not the most appealing to the eye but function the best!

Cooler or wine fridge, either one with HCM beads. My 28 bottle wine fridge (unplugged) has been rock solid at 63% for 1.5+ years with no maintenance needed
