I'm sure her MBA is eligible, just going through the process...

I'm learning that those with Leopard are screwed. Must have Snow Leopard to install Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard is no longer available unless you manage to find a second hand copy.

It is possible to go from leopard to mountain lion if you create a bootable mountain lion install drive, but it would be like a clean install so you would have to backup all your files, music, apps, etc you currently have, and then re-install them onto mountain lion from the backup. Technically violates the license agreement, but if you can't find snow leopard anywhere its the only way (I think)

Can you not just go into your local Apple Store? I'm sure they must have a solution for people in your situation (other than buy a new Mac of course).

Sounds like the same model I have Core 2Duo Santa Rosa? You can go to 6gig of ram, but one has to be a 4 gig stick. Thats what I did. My macbook is Macbook Pro 2008. Model A1226.

Unfortunately not, I have a late 2008 MacBook aluminum unibody. Max I can go is 4gigs. So i am going to do that and then upgrade from my 160HDD to a 256SSD. Should be up and running in a month or so. No rush and things take forever to get here.

Anybody having issues with ML yet? Seems there is already an update.

No issues that i've noticed so far. And if you ordered the RAM from crucial it shouldn't take long at all :noon

This.

Now that I'm not in school anymore I really only use my computer for backing up my phone, scrolling the Internet, and occasionally watching movies. I don't see much in the new upgrade I have to have

Yes and No, Techinically it is is a macbook. In late 2008/early 2009 they realeased the macbook aluminum unibody. They soon switched back to the white macbooks and moved the 13 inch aluminum macbooks into the macbook pro line. So I guess you could say it is a first gen 13 inch macbook pro.....:sh
