Re: Looking for new house

We just bought our first house in Jan and i had a blasting going through the whole process. Those porches would be great to have. We have two decks and I'm trying to find a way to cover one now so I can smoke in the rain. Good luck with the search, it is a great time to buy.

I really hope this house is what we're looking for. I LOVE the dual back porches.

Those porches look sweet Earl! I love sitting on mine smoking while it rains.

Those porches kick ash, I could see a dozen people smoking cigars out there for shure!
I bought my house about three years ago, thought it was a good deal. A year later my neighbor moved in and paid $60,000 less than me for the same exact model of house! Kinda makes me throw up and swallow it again everytime I think of home buying.

Re: Looking for new house

The house with the 2 back porches has fallen through. the kitchen doesn't have a pantry and there are some tile issues among with a few other things so we're putting that one on the back burner for now. we have narrowed the rest of the list down to 2 houses. we're getting pretty close choosing the house that is right for us. I'm getting pretty excited.

Here are the 2 houses that we are looking at now. Out of the 13 houses we looked at yesterday these 2 are the only ones we liked.

I'm a fan of #2 as it has the open floor plan and a great back yard...is the deck covered? PS: I just noticed this is post 2000...

Re: Looking for new house

congrats on the 2k posts. #2 is nicer on the inside and has a lot more storage space but #1 is in a better location and has a bigger back yard. The deck on #2 is covered but its not a solid roof, its just a bunch of rafters.

There's a saying amongst us Realtors . . . the only thing you can't change about a house is the location. The biggest mistake first time buyers make is they get mesmerized by big rooms or shiney stainless steel appliances and forget about the quality of location. A smaller house in a great location is easier to sell (and generally will appreciate more) than a larger house in a less desirable location.

Looks like we're going with the smaller one in the better location(right next to a golf course) its the one that the wife likes the best and its closer to work.

Well, I have learned from my current home purchase I should have listened to the wife. Even if she is wrong she is still right. Wise choice!

I too have learned that lesson the hard way.

Looks like the other house is the one she likes best now. That's fine with me cause I like this one better anyways. She'll probably change her mind tomorrow anyways.

Meeting with the Realtor today to put an offer down on the house. Wish us luck.

Good luck, I am considering letting my house go.
I know I can't do it but right now it would make soo much sense.
We want to move but lost over $60k on our house with the economy issues.

Re: Looking for new house

So it looks like we weren't meant to live at the house we wanted. The owners just accepted an offer right before we were going to meet with our realtor to make an offer.
