Gotcha....I missed the spin up part.

Again, verify their pricing and the fact that it's 1) an estimate and 2) that they will give you a list before having to pay in full.

This is a microdrive that won't spin up. It's a mechanical issue, not a lost file issue or corruption issue, so software is useless.

Hardware failures suck. I'd be curious to hear what you get for quotes.

What are you picks for data recovery software? I've used them. I've heard some versions can see multiple layers of data like every time the machine was formatted is still there. I'd love to play around that!

Will do, Gary. Thanks for the tips, they'll definately come in handy.
Lisa talked to them already, and she relayed what they told her. I just don't listen so good. :D

Another spin on this is that Lisa's oldest daughter, Nikki, took the pics. I've taught her how to use the camera a couple times, but she struggles with it. I could conceivably pay $900 for a bunch of wedding pics that are poop. :D
Wouldn't that just about make a guy snap? lol

Eeew, I had this exact same issue about a year ago.

I got quotes from around and decided it wasn't worth the price for what I was trying to recover (things I could re-create in 20-40 hours of work, which was still a better deal).

Good luck with it man, hope you can get it back.
