Wouldn't surprise me if Macanudo was the best-selling cigar.

Mild, easily found(almost everyone carries them, even Rite-Aid), fairly priced, name recognition and marketing.

Most casual smokers tend to go for milder stuff and I guess most retailers/B&M employees would point to those.

I'm probably wrong, but I would think that more cigars are purchased by casual smokers than everyday smokers. Everytime I'm at a B&M, there's always at least three or four people wondering around looking like they are lost.

Oh, so we have met!;)

Well the Macanudo and bud light comparison makes sense, but then it seems like a completely different explanation would be needed for the popularity of Acids. Wouldn't the drink comparison for Acids be something like this?

I disagree, Bob.

Macanudos have no taste.

Budweiser does have a taste...pretty much "goat whiz".

They typically are. Macanudo's are advertised heavily in many different magazines so the casual smoker see those adds and buys them. The internet cigar community is very, very small when compared to the masses that do smoke cigars.

Machine made cigars still outsell handmades 10 to 1.

For reals?
