Nice looking pipe - something elegant about it - either the army mount or that shiny rim...

I believe you brother. Im just an old Airdale type and like the wide open at 10 thousand feet at least. I did spend most of my time in EOD safeing WW2 munitions laying around in the jungle on Okinawa. SEcond generation AF and many generations military going back before the revolution to a crochety old Hessian soldier of fortune who killed Indians and French for the Brits even before the Revolution. Grand uncle still on duty on the Missouri in Pearl Harbor.

Nice looking Viking Darren. I like the thickness of the briar around the bowl. Hope it smokes good for you.

While out in the field today, I was in the neighborhood of a B&M called "Tobacco World" and picked up the following items:

A new MM bent Legend cob and a can of Balkan Sasieni...

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread

Thanks! I put some BC in it and it was kinda flat. I dunno if it was my taste buds or what, but I'll try some Peacehaven in it; pots are supposed to be good for VA's (aren't they?). Other than that, it was cool, gurgle free, great pipe.

I've been paying so much attention to aro's and crossovers that I totally overlooked Sasieni Balkan. :hm

How in the world did you get a pound and a half into an eight ounce jar? The Christmas Cheer is awesome, right? No need to answer, I know it is, being from Greene County, N.C.

I've got some stuff due today, too. Not a pipe, but a couple of Savinelli rests and some Esoterica St. Ives. That's how exciting my life is; I can't wait, either. :sh
BTW, That pipe should be a nice smoke. I may have to get that prince.

Comoys came in! Lovely grain too. Class act this pipe. I put in some of the new shipment Peter: St luxury Bulls Eye Flake. It looks like a bag of sliced pepperoni! :D First time I have gotten tobacco like this.

I cleaned the pipe with a pipe cleaner a little and shred up a pepperoni slice and just stuffed it in the bowl lightly. Didnt really know how to do this. It lit easily and the bowl smoked cool and stayed lit for me. Just lucky this time I guess!

I was told I would probably like this based on what I smoke and I do! Thanks for the hints Rev! I smoked blissfully for an hour plus and to me found this mixture to demand my smoking it slowly. Hot box it and it gets the back of your throat!

I think it smells great. It sure tastes great. Hints of Honey maybe? New favorite! The pipe too!

They always do. Now if only I could remember where I managed to misplace mine. ;_; Oh, and fair warning, they do like to get oxidized/charred right by where the cap goes down when it closes, try to remember to wipe it off with your thumb every once in a while to keep her nice and shiny. I always tend to forget and end up having to clean it with some alcohol and a q-tip every so often.

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread

Thanks I will remember that. I was using a pipe cleaner to wipe it clean tonight. It really is very thick chrome. I like that. It feels good in my hand. it also has not failed to light once.

Picked up the following tins today at my local B&M:

http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps6edb1117.jpg

Peter Heinrichs #169 (English blend) had been sitting on their shelf for a while. Their had been 5 other tins, but somebody came in and took those home recently. The old price tag still indicates $15.99. Good price for 3.5 oz of baccy...

Last month was a busy one for me. My PAD and TAD kicked into high gear.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...104_134124.jpg

2012 Stanwell Pipe of the Year

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...109_124311.jpg

8oz of Hobbit's Weed

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...111_162724.jpg

8 oz of Stonehaven and a tin of Escudo

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...116_221534.jpg

this does not include 4 oz of Gawith & Hoggarth Louisiana Perique Flake, 16 oz of Brigadier's Black (special from P&C), and a tin of Samuel Gawith Chocolate Flake.

My wife is going to kill me.

Yes, you were a busy little beaver Matt:D Very nice buys all the way around. I remembered the name of "Hobbit Weed" floating around in the past, but just forgot where it was you could purchase. Nice web page and I'm sure a great B&M to visit. Always great to walk in and purchase some baccy and a fly-rod...

Don't worry about the wife. They always need to let off some steam here and there about us:r :hm...she doesn't own a .45 does she?;)

Well I smoked that sucker walking home in the snow. It was fantastic. Deep dark roasted espresso - mocha flavours. Developed a real meatiness to the end of the bowl. Cool luxurious, didn't go out. Reminded me a decent maduro cigar.

Tastes like more!

Never met a bulldog who didn't like meat. Anyway it looks more like biltong. Ostrich biltong actually.

Some people have a hard time keeping Dark Star lit. If you can, it is a great tasting smoke. I find that if you can slow it down and just sip it, there are some deep, rich, sweet notes beyond description - sort of like a dark chocolate.

I find it helps if I dry it out till it's bone dry but I love it! It's definitely chewy. :dr

Thanks that's part of what prompted me to get it. The one was right it does smell kind of like ketchup. Lucky for me it tastes a whole lot better than it smells and I imagine when I let it dry out a little more it will be even better.
