- DPG Black/Cuban Classic - amazing...no, spectacularly memorable with a couple years age imo - DPG JJ Maduro - these are stellar Maduros, can be found at Atlantic Cigar, highly recommended - DPG Original JJ - not a bad smoke by any means, but doesn't stand out as much as the previous two, definitely worth grabbing a 5er if you've never tried! - DPG Blue/Original - meh. I'm aware how good these *can* be, and when they are that good, they could make the top of this list! However recently I've been coming across a lot of underwhelming Blues as well. I haven't given up faith mind you, I just snagged a box of 2019 Blues in corona vitola to put down for the long term. Going to try to zero in on that sweet spot if I can. :tu |

Sure thing amigo!
https://i.postimg.cc/jqg4p845/428725...54499-EA56.jpg 601 Blue Short Churchill (I think that's the name of the vitola) - picked these up because while I love the 601 Blue Toros, sometimes I wished the smoke was a bit more concentrated, and so far, this one is delivering!! |
Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?
Been having a lot of the same cigars lately so haven't seen as much need to post ta bout them, particularly any I've already posted about recently.
This morning I'm having a... Graycliff 30 yo Toro - (forgot to snap a picture today) I'm with a lot of folks when they say Graycliff has a lot of underwhelming offerings, I've tried some other blends beside this one and haven't been terribly impressed. With that said, this is and has been a consistently spectacular smoke for me. It reminds me of a L'atlier, very very creamy smoke but with more nuance and subtleties going on under that cream. Haven't been buying these lately because the vendor Id have to go through is now charging the Ohio excise tax, but now that I'm running low, I'll eventually just bite the bullet and pay the excise so I can get more of these. Yep, that good. |

Surrogates Crystal Baller Toro - nice medium bodied smoke. Almost out of these, which is unfortunate, but don't think I'll be picking up more |
Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?
AJF Enclave Broadleaf Toro - was too lazy to snap a picture this morning. It's been my experience that while these are good, they lack a bit of the character that the original Enclave has that makes them so unique. AJ makes the Toro format of these rather large, so I'm wondering if maybe they might smoke a little better in a smaller vitola. I think I might get another 5er in a smaller size before I pass ultimate judgement however.

Caldwell Eastern Standard Corretto. Good, though I enjoy the Long Live the King and The King is Dead better. |
Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?
Still plan to check out more of that Caldwell portfolio...does anyone know who that face is on a lot of those Caldwell bands? My guess is either an old, unshaven Mark Twain, or some long dead Russian author. :r
For my Friday Quarantine Funday I went with... https://i.postimg.cc/hPST40y2/9-AB72...63-EC91901.jpg AB Prensado Churchill - always tasty, but I'm starting to thinI this blend wasn't meant for this vitola either (referencing my last post in thread). After dropping the rh significantly they burn much better but still not without needing at least 2 re-lights. Up next.... https://i.postimg.cc/c4dtNydv/8-D169...ED65-D0-C8.jpg CigarFed Mexican Hot Chocolate Toro - very wonky ash on this one, but smoking wonderfully as usual. A big thanks to Weelok for recommending this one many moons ago, a consistently flavorful spicy Nicaraguan that always delivers. :tu |

@ Weelok a Diplomaticos, nice! I plan on checking those out in the future, I've heard good things, I've heard on person describe them as a cross between a Monte #2 and a Partagas Serie P #2 which sounds awesome to me. :tu
This morning im smoking - https://i.postimg.cc/Z5sPWvdv/38-D75...5-B0735868.jpg DE Herrera Esteli Toro - great cigar, buttery & rich with lots of flavor - no surprise that these are quite popular. |

CF Guardian of the Farm Nightwatch Orpheus - what a nice spin on the original Guardian, just has less of the nutty flavors and instead some more spice & chocolate...really good stuff, I just bought another box on cigar auctioneer and so I can start to smoke some of these finally without feeling like I'm running out of them as fast :tu |
Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?

RP Sungrown Maduro Toro - I still have some of these from a box I bought maybe a couple years ago now. Since then I think I've outgrown RP a little as a brand, but I have to say this is still a very nice cigar. Medium/full to full with plenty of spice and pepper to start then settling in to a pleasant chocolately cocoa-y goodness that remains accented by that typical Sungrown spice. Would I buy more? Sure, if they were on a really good sale, but it's hard to justify anywhere near full price when I could get a more interesting brand for just as much or less dinero. With all that considered however, again it's quite a nice cigar and would recommend it, particularly to any fans on full bodied maduros. :llp |

@ James yeah there's just simply too much other stuff out there with more interesting flavor profiles! Speaking of which -
I'm finishing the (decidedly Maduro themed) day with a.... https://i.postimg.cc/XJPg9PNP/033137...-F72-D6-F8.jpg 601 La Bomba Maduro Toro - I tried one out of a box of 10 a couple weeks ago and wasn't terribly impressed, but on a hunch, I tried giving some serious dry boxing time on this 2nd one. If memory serves correct, 4 days in total - which has me concerned it was going to be as dry as...well, really dry. Turns out, the extra time is exactly what it needed because it is smoking *tremendously*. Incredibly rich buttery dark savory notes, compared to food I'd say...a smoked T-bone steak seasoned with black pepper and butter, washed down with a glass of yoo-hoo. Uncultured and sophisticated at the same time, talk about nuance! :2 |

My Father The Judge Toro Fino - oh how I love this cigar. Probably my favorite out of the My Father line...Le Bijou comes in a close 2nd though. Has a wonderful...funk to it that I just love and complexity for days, almost no puff is alike imho. However, it does occasionally taste reminiscent of a DPG Black, which makes me wonder if they might use a similar tobacco in both blends? Regardless of the tobacco used, at the end of the day it is a spectacular cigar and I would recommend this one to anyone! Unless you use cigarauctioneer to buy your cigars, in which case it is an awful, horrible cigar and you should neverever bid on it. Ever. :su |

AB Tempus Natural Churchill - AB is certainly a diverse brand...some blends are spectacular (Magic Toast & Black Market Esteli come to mind) and others are more lackluster (Lineage, Post Embargo, etc) and not that that those are bad necessarily, but aren't to my taste. Fortunately, the AB Tempus Natural is a blend that I'm partial to! Full bodied, rich smoke with lots of wood, mineral & nutty notes that I find delectable. I have had some burn issues with this current batch of Churchills I'd ordered around a year ago, they've gotten better with some extended rest but still not entirely immune to uneven burning. So sure, while there are lots of cigars I'd rather be smoking, when the price is right, I definitely see myself stocking back up. :tu |

AJF New World Cameroon Belicoso - my last out of a 5er I snagged some time ago. *Fair warning* the wrappers on these are quite brittle, I'd exercise caution when clipping if you ever smoke one. Pretty standard stuff as far as Cameroons go, rock solid medium body, has a fun spicy sweet woodsy start, spice mellows after a while then just kind of a pleasant caramel & woods note for the remainder of the cigar. So while this is a nice cigar, particularly as an AM smoke to pair with coffee, I can't say that it's particularly memorable or complex. Of course, if at the right price I'd certainly pick more up so I had something on hand for when I was in the mood for Cameroon tobacco. |

AJF Enclave Toro - one of my favorite in the AJF lineup! So much so that I used to smoke these so frequently that I got a little tired of the profile. I have been trying to space them out more and I'm glad I have because they have been getting much better over the last year. Makes me wonder how one would smoke after 3-4 years...hmmm I might be buying more of these soon. :D |

The 601 Blue sits somewhere between medium to medium full body so when in Toro vitola sometimes it feels like it's lacking...but still a great blend any way they roll it! :tu |
