Ouch. Yeah that one sucked. Still feeling the effects from it. His second coming has actually worked out very well though. Became more of a complete centre than trying too hard to be a goal scorer. For 3 million not bad. For 5.5 and the first round pick, not so good.

Well, the Flames are still primed for a run at the post season, so you gotta be happy with that, Brett.

Avs win again & I actually was able to watch it.

After giving up that late goal in the 2nd, I wondered how they'd come out in the 3rd....and it was ON FIRE!

Good to see Duchene out there and this Downie character, 5 games and 7 points with the Avs....NICE! Landeskog is playing amazing....who knows, maybe they will sneak in.

I'm sorry to see Winnick go, I really liked him. Not to say I didn't like TJG, but I thought Winnick was under-appreciated. I don't know anything about McGinn, but like what I am hearing/reading.

GO AVS!

Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread

McGinn is solid, and Downie was a nice pick-up, E.J.

Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread

McGinn trade is tough. As a Sharks fan hate to see him go. He was playing very well and is a stud. The PK was horrid though and this trade was made to attempt fix it. Not sure who won this one if anyone. One things for sure. The Sharks are sucking hard and they had to do something to shake things up a bit.

At the end of the day this is true.

I still would prefer that they unloaded some vets and tanked some to get a better draft position. That isn't always the best answer for sure but some of us are pretty tired of the maddening mediocrity of these guys. Good enough to battle for 8th but not bad enough to build something worth while.

8th is better than 9th or 10th.

We all can't be Detroit :)

Winnick was awesome in his Sharks debute getting third star tonight.
Game got extremely chippy at the end.

Bruins shut out for fifth time in February, the team looks dead, flat, lazy.
All you have to do is for-check them ,no push back not a fun team to watch at the moment.

Hawks got a much needed win. Fell behind by two goals in the first, pulled Crawford and put in Emery for the second, and scored 4 straight. Much needed win.

Wow, what a finish. If Miller had played that way all season, the Sabres would be in good shape.

Wild game wasn't on locally, but I watched the score on my phone...4-1 with about 5 min left in the 3rd, and they pull out a point with a SO loss. From how it seemed to be going, I'll take it. Saw that Setoguchi biffed it on his attempt to keep their chances alive in the SO in the highlights this morning.

Bruins lose to the Islanders but to make things worse lose two more players. The B's are digging way deep in the minors for help.
Looking for the Rangers to beat them down this afternoon :sl

Bruins can't afford to lose anymore players, not worth fighting a scrub that is a non factor.

B's tried to make a play for him he played for Julien a couple seasons but didn't have anything to give up.The minors are depleted except a couple blue chippers that might have a crack at making the big team next season?

The Avs goalie was standing on his head last night. The Wild were really throwing a lot of good chances at him, and he kept making big save after big save. :(

Loss last night to the Hawks drops the Wings to the 4th seed, and a tie with the Blues :hn See the Hawks one more time this season April 7th.

Gonna be neck and neck between the Wings and Blues for the Central, Son....I am actually hoping the Wings win it, because I would like to see the Blues in the 1st round if the Hawks squeak up to 5th.

Thor was good in net last night as The Isles beat the Devils. FIrst win and fist shut out in what I hope will be an illustrious career for him. well played "team" game for them. Youth movement engage!!!

BTW: Remember me in a year or two when the Isles are tearing it up.

Didn't they say that 10 years ago and every year since? ;)

Lot a young talent on there. More fun to watch than my Flames...

Hey Tom.
Whats the deal on our new goalie Marty Turco?
I guess the B's had to get someone? All they had was an AHL backup and he was banged up.
Hopefully he won't cost us any games?

Plays the puck well, and is an adequate back-up, John. Looks like he will not be playoff eligible, hopefully Rask heals by then or you are going to have an AHL back-up if Timmy goes down.

Ahbroody 03-06-2012 09:58 AM

Re: NHL '11 - '12 Thread

Turcco can be a head case. I have watched the guy get pissed and attack Sharks. Fairly easy to get under his skin. Should fit in perfect in Boston. :r I kid

As Tom said excellent playing the puck, so much so was sometimes viewed as having a third D man. Can be good in net can get rattled though by crowd taunts and players.

Oooo it was hilarious. They were in his head so bad. Then the crowd got on him after he started going after players. He literally imploded on the ice and turned in to a screen door.

Oh great,I don't think he will get more the 4-5 starts, but you never know?
Timmy's glove hand is getting slow and he has let in a lot of soft goals.

I think you are about right on how many starts Turco will get at max...I would guess closer to 3 if Tim stays healthy. Problem is, if Rask isn't healthy by playoffs, the B's will have a relatively untested AHL goalie as their back-up if Tim gets hurt. Obviously, there is no way the B's could have forseen this, just sucks for them if Rask's groin problem turns out to be worse than they think.

It will be interesting if Kronwall gets suspended for his hit tonight. One thing is for sure, with the way the league is responding to head injuries, the refs should have stopped play immediately (IMHO).
