This thread needed a bump.
Best pairing I have had in a while.
2009 Familiar

I've always felt the Glenfiddich 15 year old is easily the best Scotch for the money. Looks like I'll need to shop around for a Vegas Robaina. Cheers,

I've heard the 15 year old solera is the best in the Glenfiddich line, can't wait to get a bottle or two (or three or four :P )

More like a menage a trois:
Partagas Lusitania with Glengoyne and Aberfeldy.
(Excuse the uncouth snifter glasses for scotch - the event served them like that!)

'98 Punch corona and Sucre aged in something, think this was the Madeira Barrel aged? Whatever it was it was they paired nicely.

Snapped this pic a couple week's ago intending to do a review, which unfortunately didn't happen.

Yesterday's pair - LP9 with the new release Laphroaig "Lore". Fans of Laffies will no doubt be going after this. Assuming you are not a fan of the more "medicinal" side of Laphroaig, this might be a gentler starting point. Peaty it may be, but closer to a Lagavulin in the quality of the aroma - the "iodine and bandages" one usually associates with the Laffie 10 year old is not so noticeable.

There is a lovely bourbonesque sweetness to the dram.

It was spectacular with the LP9.

This might just be the Laphroaig for those who prefer their scotches complex without too many rough edges.

Sweet barrel notes in the beer played very nicely with the creamy, coffee and subtle spice of the Sobremesa.
