Many of the Black Pearls are pretty meh. But there are a couple that are great smokes, especially at the price.

Having a Caldwell Blind Man's Bluff Robusto.

About a year ago I picked up a box of Black Pearl Morados that was deeply discounted, when they arrived they were extremely brittle but I'm not sure if that was due to the retailer or the company itself. After a couple of months rest they smoked quite well as I recall, spicy and sweet. Had to be careful cutting the caps of course but yeah, otherwise quite tasty and one heck of a deal.

As for me, I'm smoking a....

Sabor Aganorsa Corona - excellent cigar! After dinner tonight I might light up a Kristoff I received in a recent trade, along with some whiskey, of course. TGIF!!!! :tu

From a MAW / PIF from NCRadioMan the AJ Montectisto and it was a very good cigar. Smooth, pepper, wood, excellent burn and a nice box press. Definitely an AJ Fernandez cigar!!

Sinistro The Last Cowboy Maduro Corona - guys, this is a phenomenal cigar, this is maybe my 3rd or 4th out of the box and they just keep getting better and better. I'm definitely hoarding the ones I have now but hope to grab a few boxes in the future so I can send out some in trades because they really are that good.

Southern Draw Firethorn Toro - well, well, well....Another fine cigar by Southern Draw. Definitely not my favorite by them but it's good! This one is especially peppery and spicy at the start and while it mellows about an inch in, the spicy pepperiness sticks around throughout the entire cigar. Really only hitting medium body at most however so I'd recommend it as a post-breakfast or lunch cigar. If you think you would enjoy a medium bodied cigar with a peppery spiced honey profile, check this one out.

Espinosa Las 6 Provincias LHB Toro - the governor of the state of Ohio just declared a stay at home order until April 6th so I figured I'd celebrate with a fine cigar by one of my favorite blenders!! Not so sure I'll be able to afford them for a while after not working for 2 weeks but hey, what the hell!

For the record I'll probably be posting here even more often for the next 2 weeks. So you can expect plenty more unnecessary cigar mini-reviews and other assorted inane babbling! ;s

Ashton Symmetry Toro - oh boy where to start with this one...it's a delicious cigar but my god is it expensive for what it is imo. With that in mind, for the price there should always be consistent draws on these cigars yet this one was absolutely plugged...so plugged in fact, if I didn't have a perfecdraw tool to loosen it up, I would have had to pitch it. Completely unacceptable for a cigar that pricey...but aside from that it is a very tasty cigar! The current box I have was gifted to me, but I can say that I'll never buy more unless deeply discounted or ive been convinced the construction issues have been fixed.

Thanks for the review Michael, I had always wondered about that one since it’s one of less commonly smoked southern draws.

Re: pnoon's what cigar did you smoke today VII?

Thanks Tom & Chayse! Yeah I figure whenever I have the time, it's nice to post a little run down, so folks can get an idea if they want to pull the trigger on a given cigar and also so I can go back and see what I thought about a cigar before buying more. (My memory isn't as sharp as it once was, heh.)

Up next:

SD Kudzu Robusto - one of the better SDs I've had to date imo, I sent one of the lanceros in a recent trade to RevSmoke if that is any indication. Has plenty of pepper and spice as well, but has more body than the Firethorn and has much more richness to the profile. Has a very very interesting but fleeting sweetness that appears & disappears throughout the length of the cigar that reminds me of some kind of candy, but I can't quite place it. Nice cigar!

Actually no not yet I haven't, as far as SD goes I've just had the Jacobs Ladder Brimstone, Firethorn & Kudzu to date. I also have a 10 pack of the Kudzu Illustrum but those are going down for the longer term.

I have been wanting to check out the Cedrus & QuickDraw next but I've also heard good things about the Rose of Sharon from you and quite a few others so I'll consider grabbing a 5er next time I place an order! :tu

Casa Fernandez Miami Reserva Toro - nice solid smoke, I'd say a pretty solid medium, maybe medium full at times, and imo this one has always exhibited a lot peanut/nut flavors with just enough spice to keep it interesting...I think I prefer the Aganorsa Leaf Casa Fernandez to this one, but it's still quite good!

DPG Blue Robusto - I have a real love/hate relationship with the Blue. I once had what was a *glorious* Blue Robusto a couple years ago and have been chasing it since. This current box I'm smoking was definitely too young when I first got it, but now are smoking fine. Not gloriously unfortunately.

Great cigar :tu

This morning I've chosen -

https://i.postimg.cc/mr9FcM4L/1-BD38...-C8-E55622.jpg

Isabela Time Traveler (Corona Double?) - one of the upsides to being stuck at home is that I can smoke more cigars! One of the downsides to being stuck at home is that I can smoke more cigars! .....because it's they are giving me some real palate fatigue :(

Such is the case with this beautiful specimen. This is from what I understand, to be Isabela's in-official crown jewel in their lineup, supposed to have many flavor transitions which I'm trying to pick up on but it's difficult - again, by no fault of Isabela, it's my damned fault for smoking too many cigars yesterday. Definitely a sweet start though, then settled in to a very rich, very aged tobacco profile.

Fellow Asylumers, for any of you that like fuller bodied cigars, I implore you to check Isabela out. They smoke like an extra premium cigar but cost at most $10 a stick. Definitely a smaller company but I really like what they are doing with their tobacco and would love to see them grow. :tu

Imo Pepin dosent hold up well to time very well, I had a old old like original light blue band from 2004 i smoked a few months ago and it was completely dead. I think they have a really short sweet spot which is when we have these amazing blues.
