So, what do you all have to say at this current moment? We don't score enough early? It is 8-0 Reds in the 2nd inning.

No problem at all.....what you wanted us to be negative about a 8-0 lead in the 2nd?!? Just hope the bullpen holds up :tu

It seems that even though we are in 1st place someone always has something to worry about. The Reds in 1st place doesn't happen too often. I am just loving it right now! :)

Just the 27th (was 25th before today) best bullpen in baseball, the one that Dan isn't worried about, let us down. Can't hold a six run lead? :td

Re: Red's Fans Check in

Massett= suck
Lincoln=suck
Cordero=suck

Keep Rhodes and Danny Ray Herrera and trade for some help in the bullpen. Trade Harang for some good relievers. Forget a power hitting LF. We've survived so far w/o one. Our problem is our bullpen. Masset should stay b/c he has potential. He's dropped his ERA from 10+ to a low 6. His ERA in May is a 1.something...

Four errors didn't help either.

A lot of people are blaming Nix for the Grand Slam as it bounced off his glove. He didn't lose this ballgame. Put the blame where it's due: the bullpen.
I think Heisey should get a start or two against Cleveland, but not b/c Nix lost the game (be honest with yourself, you know this loss isn't his fault).

Why did Baker not stay with Rhodes? We probably still would have won if he was on the mound. He doesn't give up home runs like CoCo does. Cordero was a mistake today.

Back to second place, boys... and soon to be in the cellar if we don't do something about our bullpen. Price has worked wonders with the starters, but the bullpen still has much to be desired.

smitdavi 05-20-2010 05:47 PM

Re: Red's Fans Check in

Yeah that is not Nix's fault. He gave it a damn good effort and missed it by an inch or so. He shouldn't have been expected to make that catch to save the game nor should he have been put in that spot. Cairo def needs to shoulder some of that blame for sure along with the bullpen.

Absolutely agree, Heisey should start, but not before Nix, he should start for Stubbs. Another 0'fer out of him today, 9 runs and he doesn't contribute at all. :rolleyes:

Heyward is the MAN! If he remains consistent, he'll be Jeter status in no time.

No doubt in my mind that JHey will be a superstar in the league in the very near future. Honestly he is one of my favorite players and I almost bought one of his jerseys when it became available.

Wish our young "phenom" outfielders lived up to their hype like Heyward has been doing thus far. :rolleyes:

Our young "phenom" pitchers need to step up right now. Trade Harang for some releivers (or send him to the pen) and bring up Chapman or Wood.

We aren't going to get anyone for Harang. Everyone knows that he isn't the pitcher he once was. I agree with bringing up Wood. They said on the radio that Chapman needs to refine his control just a touch b/c he will walk a lot of batters right now at the MLB level.

Harang is worth more than he appears. No, we can't trade him for Jeter or Heyward, but we can get a couple of pitching prospects for him. There are some teams out there that would be glad to have Harang on their team (when you're desparate, you'll take anybody).

Re: Red's Fans Check in

Package Harang with Stubbs and I am sure we can come up with a nice Single A prospect and maybe a 37th round draft pick. :hm

Re: Red's Fans Check in

I'll keep Stubbs for a while. I think he's got a lot of potential, but needs to work on hitting this year. I think he'll be similar to Bruce: if we wait long enough, he'll come around.

Chapman won't come up for a while. Hopefully he stays in Louisville all year.

The Reds have been notorious the past few years of bringing up their prospects way too early (ie: Bailey, Stubbs and Bruce) :td

Hopefully they learn and keep him in Louisville all year. My guess is when the Reds see how well Strasburg is pitching for the Nats that Chapman won't be too far behind :hn

Maybe this tightness in Homer's elbow will send him back to Single A for a nice long rehab stint while he works his way back to the majors. He couldn't throw a first pitch strike today. :bh

Nice work by the irregular bullpen today, if they would have thrown the regulars in there I think that game could have gotten way too far out of hand. :tu

I could see the value in it, but I fear what we would have to give up to get him. We aren't gonna just trade him for Harang.

No, but it takes a lot to raise it from .163 to plus .200 in two weeks at this point in the season.

And last I checked Stubbs led the team in strikeouts and was 15th on the team in average. REAL Stats :tu

Lets not forget he is 61st in average in the National League for outfielders, not all players, just outfielders. And most of the guys ranked below him are pinch hitters. Oh and for everyday players (players with 3.1 AB's per game) he has the 91st best average, out of 96 everyday players. Oh, 4th highest in strikeouts too and all 3 of the regulars in the outfield rank in the top 20 in strikeouts. :hm

And a hit brings his average a lot higher than a strikeout hurts his average. :2

I was born and raised in Cincy and I've always loved going to Reds games back at Riverbend, and now at Great American which is my favorite park in the country. Of course, I am biased, and Fenway is AWESOME, but I love going to games at Great American. The stacks, the river, great design, great brats, and I'll take the ferry over to the Hofbrau (where I met my wife), but I haven't taken the ferry in a couple years. Does it still run?
