That's what happens when you show up for ST overweight, unhealthy, and unprepared.

Did not see that one coming, especially for such a light number. Free-agency would have gotten him at least $25M more. Brandon Phillips is all but gone now. They have chosen to move forward with Votto as the center of the team. I think it the better move. Hopefully they won't have the money to re-sign Stubbs when he comes up now. :hm

I hope they have really committed to spending the cash to keep the team competitive and don't surround Votto with scrubs because they spent too much money on him. :bh

Actually Jim Bowden tweeted earlier tonight that even after Votto deal, Reds talking with Phillips about extension.

They must be trippling their payroll. Well done spending some serious cash to remain competitive, but where is the big arm pitching staff?

I am pumped to see them sign Votto long term. Now lets hope we can lock Phillips up too. :tu

:tpd: But I think it is only a matter of time before Chapman ends up on the DL with Tommy John surgery. They really don't have any sure-fire starters after the first 2, with the Votto signing, they made a committment to be a better ball club, so some great pitching pickups should be soon to follow. :hm

And I thought I was the only one who saw Tommy John written all over Chapman's arm when we first signed him.

I didn't know you all were doctors. Why worry about it? If it happens, it happens.

I know you don't watch much baseball that isn't played in GABP. The last guy I remember that threw as hard as Chapman, was Zumaya, and he hasn't pitched in 2 seasons. You can only throw that hard for so long before your elbow says, 'F you'.

I watch baseball outside of GABP and I have seen Zumaya. Doesn't mean Chapman will get hurt. Maybe he is healthier. :sh

Nolan Ryan threw pretty hard and pitched 24 years!

If you like Chapman, you don't want him starting under Widowmaker.:2
