Local Indications are the GM will be Sandy Alderson.

My vote for manager is Larry Bowa
No one is talking about it, just my opinion and now that Torre is gone he should be available.
The Mets can't go with the Art Howe, Jerry Manuel, quiet type manager.
They need some one who Kicks ass and takes names.
Chuck Norris has prior commitments!
Hence Bowa is the answer!!!!

When Bowa was in NY with Torre he said that he will never manage again as long as Joe Torre wants him on his staff. I have a feeling that Bowa may stay with Mattingly as his bench coach. Donnie needs someone with experience to look to.

For GM I can see Sandy or the guy who was the Jays GM. Can't think of his name, but he has been an ESPN Baseball Tonight guy. Fo manager I think it comes down to Bobby V or Wally Backman.

Looks like it is either Josh Byrnes (who had a followup meeting Monday) and fellow former GM Sandy Alderson. (who has his followup meeting today).

My favorites is for the younger Byrnes...whom has served 4 years under Theo Epstein. :tu

The Mets have agreed in principle to make Sandy Alderson their new GM, a source confirmed Wednesday. The club is expected to introduce Alderson in a news conference Friday.

I'm actually very happy with this move, granted hes not young, but he does have a proven track record and the only way a guy like Alderson takes this job is if he does have autonomy as decision maker, something regardless of what he said, I don't think Omar had.

Mets picked up Jose Reyes' $ 11 million option and announced that 2011 tickets will be reduced by 14%. For a 4th place team..they gotta do better than this!!

Mets also sign JP Riccardi as the Asst GM. A very smart move for them. JP did a good job in Toronto with limited resources and putting JP and Sandy back together is very smart.

I thought all was well when I heard they signed Alderson, but when they announced they signed JP Ricciardi I loled. He was a disaster in Toronto and was probably even more disliked up there than Omar was in NY :r

We've had all the big money managers and where did it get us??? NOWHERE!! At least Wally is a down to earth ex-Met. He was semi successful in managing A ball. Manuel and Randolph NEVER had control of the team...something I think Wally will have right from the start.

The last Big money manager the Mets had was Bobby V and it got you a World Series appearance.
Manuel and Randolph never had control of the team because the Players had the front office's ear and were allowed to ignore the chain of command.
Sandy Alderson is the man who discovered Art Howe, and that is exactly the type of manager he wants.
The second backman interview is window dressing.
It's to appease the fans and show Jeff Wilpon that Wally got a fair shake.
In the coming days you will see articles leaking how Wally's not ready yet but the Mets think he has what it takes in the future :2

It looks like the Mets manager vacancy is between Terry Collins & Bob Melvin. If Collins gets the job they may look at Melvin for the bench coach.
