If you really need one, then don't skimp on the cost for a nice one. The cheaper ones on the bay will work, but are usually loud, and do fail from time to time. May I ask why you "need" one? |

if you want a single I cannot help you. I say hit watchuseek.com and research. theres tons of info on there regarding winders! I heard people liked the Swiss legend ones and that they were super cheap. also, jomashop.com house-brand winder is decent too from what a coupel people have told me,. |

Does anyone know how much retailers discount Omegas? I know Tag Heuers are discounted 15% or so off the sticker at a lot of retailers. I may be looking for a Planet Ocean next year.

There are many US based grey market and LNIB watch dealers online. Virtually all of them provide a stamped manufacturer warranty or are at least clear in their postings. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
So...if I get as US based grey market watch from a singapore dealer--will factory warranty still be honored? What about if it just needs periodic service.
How can I tell if the dealer is legit? I am new to this (if you cannot tell) |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Posted this in another thread but there seems to be alot more traffic here soooo......
I have a Citizen Eco Drive Titanium that has stopped working. What to do? Do I send it in to Citizen? I don't think I have had it for 5 years but maybe I have. I also don't think that I have thre warranty paperwork. How much are they gonna charge? Maybe I just chuck it :O http://lh6.ggpht.com/_sctUupuw_Zk/Rh...ture_00010.JPG |

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Thanks Chip!!
I am trying that but since i pretty much wear it 24/7 I would've thought it'd been good. Either way I will try that as it's the cheapest fix :) and it says that "under normal conditions, your eco-drive watch will never need a battery" or something to that effect. I know it's Eco drive but there must be some sort of battery for electric storage (capacitor possibly?) during no light situations. |

Normally you can get 15-20% off depending on where you go. some give 22-23% off. The best B&M place to get a discount will be a mom & pop jeweler.... of course, they'd have to have the watch you want obviously. A woman tried to sell me a Maurice Lacroix I had my eye on for 40% off which was about 200.00 lower than you can get one for on the cheapest place on the web. |

I also got a watch from my Son for Christmas, needed something to wear outdoors hunting and fishing, etc. He surprised me with this Luminox 3081 BO which is completely blacked out except for luminous hands and points. Really neat looking. :) Never had a Luminox before but this one looks great and is extremely light for a large watch. Sorry I don't have a real picture but it is so black I am not sure how it would show up. Attachment 8268 |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I used some xmas money for a Seiko Orange Monster. I got it today and it's way off with the timekeeping. It's +8 sec every minute. I waited for 2 weeks for shipment and now it needs to be returned. Arg.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I noticed that Amazon is having a sale on watch winders. Does anyone here have experience with this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Double-Automat...478974&sr=1-16 Brand Name:BelociaModel number:1011-doubleWatchWinder-blk-2Part Number:BELOWIN2item-weight:3 Pounds It is heavily discounted, which could mean good things or bad things. |
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
That watch winder sounds real basic. If you are rotating the two watches regularly, it will be fine. If it is for two watches that will sit there for days on the winder, I might consider one that won't "over wind" the watch. Usually that will be listed as a feature.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I have heard a lot of no-so-good reviews of that winder, basically from what I have read it does not last long and is loud. I don't personally own it but I would look for something a little nicer. I have read good reviews about the Brookstone winders and they are relatively inexpensive.
|
Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
I have had great luck with mine. They can be had for cheap.

Re: Wristwatch collectors out there?
Thats a nice B, S15! I have 2 myself, a SuperOcean that was a wedding gift from my wife, and Navitimer that was such a good deal I couldn't pass it up. I also have a Tag F1 Chrono with an orange face, A Tissot T-Touch, Luminox F117, and more G-Shocks than I can count.
