To bad nobody's crazy enough to take Marmol off our hands.
Watching him pitch the last three years is enough to drive ya to smoking and drinking. Don |

Re: Wait 'til Next Year...Cubbies Fans Unite!
ATLANTA -- Chicago Cubs pitcher Carlos Marmol will no longer close games, manager Dale Sveum announced on Sunday.
Japanese import Kyuji Fujikawa will take over the role. "I came into the season with the mindset of a set-up man," Fujikawa said through his interpreter. "Once Marmol's condition gets better I think there is a chance he'll come back. We all have to fight through it." Marmol lost his job after giving up game tying and winning home runs to B.J. Upton and Justin Upton in the ninth inning on Saturday. It was his third appearance of the young season in which he gave up runs; his ERA is 27.00. It made the decision an easy one for Sveum and the front office. "We've had three games that have been winnable games this year and all three have been an adventure," general manager Jed Hoyer said. "So the decision was fairly easy." |

Re: Wait 'til Next Year...Cubbies Fans Unite!
"(CNN) -- A dreaded curse that has nagged Chicago's Wrigley Field for decades may have triggered a grotesque prank Wednesday, when an unidentified man in an unmarked truck dropped off a package containing a severed goat's head at the stadium.
The gruesome parcel was addressed to the club's owner, Tom Ricketts, CNN affiliate WBBM reported. While the delivery -- confirmed by the Cubs and caught on surveillance footage -- was certainly offensive, it's nothing new. " :r |

Re: Wait 'til Next Year...Cubbies Fans Unite!
Could it be true....Cub moving out of Wrigley!!!!!!!
Seems like the Ricketts family is telling the Roof Top folks either we renovate our way or it's the highway. Don |
Re: Wait 'til Next Year...Cubbies Fans Unite!
He will be hung from the left field foul pole if he actually did this. All part of the negotiation game.
I hope. |
Re: Wait 'til Next Year...Cubbies Fans Unite!
Oh I'm sure it is, last I heard the city gave it's approval to his renovation plans since it would not utilize taxpayer money. It's those folks that own the rooftop seats that are at odds with him now. They have hinted at a lawsuit if the new video board he has planned obstructs their viewpoint in any way. I've also heard that someone in Schaumburg has offered him free land if he does move the team out of Wrigley.
I took a class called "Baseball and American Culture" last year and Pete Ricketts was one of our guest speakers, he indicated that with all the improvements needed in the ballpark they couldn't afford any big name free agents just yet. Don |
Re: Wait 'til Next Year...Cubbies Fans Unite!
Good day today. Hawks win the cup last night and Marmol packs his bags. Finally.

Re: Wait 'til Next Year...Cubbies Fans Unite!
My Yankees take the first half of their rainout double-header against the Cubbies 3-0 this afternoon. As they were swept by The Bombers in the WS back in both '32 and '38, lost all three interleague games in 2005, and lost two exhibition ones there in 2009, they have yet to ever win a game in The Bronx. But they get another crack tonight, so there's always hope. :tu
