Great looking pipe Darren! I'd been looking at those and the GBD' too. Good steal on the Bay:tu

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Thanks Mark, I'm looking forward to it. It has a condenser in it, and I haven't liked the way this works in my Kaywoodie, but it looks like it can be removed. BTW, I forgot I got this in the mail a couple of days ago:
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/pictur...pictureid=8574 I'm also waiting on an estate Commodore Canadian #202, but I'll take some pix when I've had a chance to clean it up and throw some wax on it. I've been looking at GBD's since someone posted a real pretty one on here someplace. It's funny, all it took was one piece of advice to make it easier for me to enjoy pipes. I forget who wrote it but it was: "Don't be afraid of re-lighting". Now I'm not struggling to keep it lit and therefore it's not over heating. That easy! :r |

My zippo butane insert came DOA, so I need to return it. I decided to give the fluid one a try again... I still taste the fluid, but I can't taste it down through the entire bowl like I did at first. I'm not sure if this is because my taste is muted due to allergies, or if it's because the wick needed to burn down some. For now it seems a little better. If I can limit the taste to only when I'm lighting, I think I can live with that for the ease and convenience of using a zippo. I have a lotus brand lighter that has a dual soft flame torch, but it has the smallest tank of any lighter I've ever used. It runs out of gas after about 15 lights, which isn't much considering how often I have to relight. Here is my new Peterson 307: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3872/...3f761a3a3c.jpg |

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Got my new Peterson Rusticated System 303 today. I have 5 tins of Escudo now and I haven't even tried it... I also got a sample of GLP Gaslight, which is very, very good. It's incredibly smooth. Good stuff!

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
That is an Awesome looking pipe. I haven't tried the Navy de Luxe yet either. 5 Tins and you haven't tried it yet? :sl I can't even control my self enough to not open a Tin of Tobacco when I get them. I buy to smoke :)... Nice pipe

BTW, great looking pipe Brian:tu |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Thanks. It seems to smoke great and doesn't have the draft hole issue that the 307 has. Makes me wonder... although it's also much smaller. I really want to open one of the Escudo tins, but already have 5 open tins and a little less than an oz of gaslight to get through. I guess I need to invest in some small jars.

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
I see them now. Nice looking pipe, and bag! I have a Chacom bent bulldog that I need to send to have some work done. There's an issue with the draft hole in the stem where it seems to step down in diameter. It makes it hard to run a cleaner through it. It's a nice pipe otherwise.

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Ordered loads of tobaccos, Some will be here tomorrow, Then 6 more tins and a couple of Oz of a couple of tobaccos next week. So today I picked up 2 14oz cans of PA. Tobacco isn't safe with me.

It is a very nice smoking pipe so far with the tobaccos I have smoked in it. http://i259.photobucket.com/albums/h...pstlowxpef.jpg |

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Couple of impulse buys since I already had an order together on the devil's site.
The CAO smells amazing. Haven't cracked open the John Bull yet. For $3 each how bad can they be? http://i.imgur.com/EdlXWbAl.jpg |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Don't discount the John Bull because of the price. It is actually pretty good IMHO. I smoke it over any of the D.E. tins at 4X's the price.

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
These came off of the *Bay late last week. Top to bottom: Charatan's Make Perfection 481oc; an unknown billiard and an unknown bulldog (purchased together):
http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps83303ca2.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps7961c47e.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps5509d6df.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps8de5b1e5.jpg http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps7191e2da.jpg The Charatan was cleaned and stored away about 20yrs ago. It will receive a proper cleaning and polish. The other two I had purchased to clean, ream, and give a good polish to, with hopes that they will have a better look thereafter to sell at a later date (maybe). I'll post some "after" pix when I've completed these tasks... |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
Nice looking pipes. Enjoy the restore. Sure they will be like new when your done. Can't wait to see the end results..

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
It's a sickness, really. I just can't stop buying pipes and stuff! :r Next to arrive at my door will be this sweet little prince from Capri. They're pretty nice for a maker of basket pipes.
http://www.cigarasylum.com/vb/pictur...pictureid=8591 I have today and tomorrow off so I'm gonna spend some time breaking in a couple of my other new ones with some Ashton Gold Rush. I've never smoked a straight Virginia before, but I'm looking forward to it. |
Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread

Re: Latest Pipe-Related Purchase Thread
I am having an upcoming pipe artist here in Phoenix named Jerry Crawford make me a straight billiard with high contrast stain and a saddle stem. I'm looking forward to seeing how it comes out. I also plan to buy a Tom Eltang pipe sometime next year, but that's a ways off.
You can find some of Jerry's work at his website http://crawfordpipes.com. |
